He's only 23. Yes he commits alot of cheap fouls but he'll get better. He has a nice floater for a 7 footer, something very useful in today's game. He has shown that he's a better finisher around the rim than Zu, not to mention his playmaking ability.

Not sure Hartenstein will ever be able to stay on the court--he's averaging 5.8 fouls per 36. Would probably be worse if he were playing against starting-quality opps. No point in an either/or with Zubac--it's a pretty good platoon right now.

I can't help but wonder if some of Hart's fouling problem is just a result of him pressing because he's never really had consistent playing time before (despite being obviously skilled).

Hartenstein averaged 6.9 fouls/36 before this season, he's at 5.8 fouls/36 this season, those are really high foul rates even for a younger big man. Zubac for example was at 3.9 fouls/36 as a rookie and his worst was 5.1 fouls/36.

Positioning to avoid fouls can be hard for younger bigs, but some guys struggle with picking up fouls all their career. So far Hartenstein has pretty high steal and block rates, but with his high foul rate, this can suggest that if he didn't attempt as many steals and blocks, he could cut out some of his fouls.

Like seeing players step up and play well with PG out, especially the younger players. Good experience and confidence builder.
