Giannis being out 7-10 days isn't the worst thing
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Didn't Wes enter protocols days ago? Bit confused on that one? And yea this felt inevitable. This is happening to the rest of the league at this point now.

Yeah no big deal in the grand scheme of things but wtf is going on right now. Is this Omicron? Did they loosen restrictions too much. Crazy how many athletes are getting it right now.

Could very well be an outbreak going on in the organization soon. I think the league should revise some of the rules and up testing again. Obviously not pre-vax or bubble levels, but it’s outta control at the moment.

Have to admit that Giannis going down for health and safety for 7-10 days right when we hit 5 games in 7 nights is a good thing. He clearly needed a rest and not having to put his body through that is great.

Sucks that we can't properly re-integrate DD given both Giannis and Midds are down really sucks though.

Seems to be an issue amongst every sports league going right now. My guess is there are a decent of amount of unvaxxed guys.

On a positive note, for those that are getting it while fully vaccinated, the symptoms seem to be minimal.

The vaccines are wearing off and are less effective against the newer variants, hence the NFL requiring boosters.

97% of players are vaccinated. Minimal symptoms. Giannis can rest his knee and will be back strong

I take it you didn’t pay attention to Philly’s outbreak?

Most pro athletes didn’t want the vax out of concern it might impact their physiology and hence their performance (and earning power)

So they and their trainers viewed the Johnson and Johnson vaccine as the least intrusive. It required only one shot and was not mRNA based. If the leagues released stats on what type of vax most guys had, would guess the J&J was number one choice.

J&J is worthless against preventing you from getting Omicron. This is likely why this is happening this week.

How long before the nba and/or all the other leagues put a pause on their seasons?

It has been reported that the NBA and the players association recently agreed to increase the frequency of testing, especially for fully vaccinated individuals. That increased testing has led to more players being identified as having Covid. Previously, unvaccinated individuals were not being testing as frequently, so any asymptomatic individual who was infected could possibly go undetected.

Players are widely vaccinated, but are more exposed to potentially risky situations. The public at large is circulating more than a year ago (schools open, indoor dining, more air travel, more businesses open etc). Arenas that were empty a year ago are mostly full. Many/most people have relaxed their personal health safety practices (lax masking, social distancing, etc). All of that contributes to increased spread of Covid, which is what the latest testing is measuring.

Not sure how its unvaccinated people’s fault that people who have very likely gotten multiple vaccines & boosters are still getting covid often for the 2nd or 3rd time now.

Because the unvaccinated have spread it around enough over the past year that newer, more vaccine-resistant variants have emerged (Delta and Omicron).

So how does a virus become vaccine-resistant in a host that hasn't been exposed to the vaccine?

Almost everyone who is vaxed and gets omicron get extremely mild symptoms if any at all. At that point it’s a very minor cold. At what point does testing 7 times a week stop?
