I'm not sure if they need to blow it up. Yes, this season is already lost so they should aim for a top draft pick. Beyond that they should assess who the "keepers" are on the team and go from there.

As for Zion, I'd approach it as if he won't be with the team and if he is that's a bonus (of course I'd still work with him...but I'm talking in terms of working on the roster going forward).

Yeah there’s nothing to really blow up. If anything they should consider consolidating all 4,000 of their draft picks, but only after getting a top-5 pick out of this draft and getting Zion back on the court next year.

They have the Lakers 2024 pick unprotected (with the option of taking the 2025 instead) and Milwaukee's 2025 and 2027 picks unprotected.

It might be smart to keep the Lakers pick and the 2027 Milwaukee one...?

I also see that they have the Lakers 2022 pick...sort of. I don't quite understand the protections on it:

"L.A. Lakers' 2022 1st round pick to New Orleans protected for selection 11-30 or to Memphis (via New Orleans) protected for selections 1-10; if this pick is not conveyed to Memphis, then Memphis will instead receive Cleveland's 2022 2nd round pick (via Atlanta to New Orleans) and New Orleans' 2025 2nd round pick"

Ingram is only 24 years old so there is time to build with him. Jonas Valanciunas is a good player, but at 29 years old I'm not sure what they should do with him. Josh Hart also seems like a solid rotation player. Trey Murphy and Herb Jones seem like decent rookies. After that (not including Zion) I have questions about the roster.

For sure keep the future picks. Sorry, I meant the rookie salary draft picks- over half their roster. That locker room is like Grandpa Temple babysitting 10 kids.

haha! Yeah it's pretty bad. Griffin was given a lot to work with and didn't do a good job.

They're hyping this Steph breaking the 3pt record thing at MSG a lot, that I just can't wait for him to go 1-15 from deep tonight - good to tie Ray Allen but unable to break it.

Probably not gonna happen, but it'd be hilarious if it does; he'd have to wait until Friday to do it in Boston lol.

Oh look at all the Nets players out because of safety protocol. Let's see how long it takes to cancel their games!

Good for Steph tonight honestly. I hated that guy early on but a real nice NBA moment and to do it in MSG. Man improved his game every year and might have been the best value contract ever in the NBA well since Jordan at 3 mil or whatever he was making.

We got hit the worst, but I feel this is just the tip. Covid running wild around the league and there will be teams popping up with 8-10 like us real soon.

I'm not sure how to fix this growing outbreak among players. We already know almost all of them have the jabs, but although that's helping limit risk of severe symptoms, it certainly doesn't seem to be slowing the spread among the athletes. I'm sure there are a handful of cases that were contracted from off-court stuff, but it sure seems like there's a traceable chain of NBA teams playing each other then getting hit a week later.

In any case, I hope the NBA is doing daily testing, like all over the damn place? Maybe coaches and players all low-key stop doing anything risky off-court (I mean we know Harden probably caught it from a teammate but would anyone be surprised if it actually was a stripper?).

Silver is not having a good holiday season right now.

Silver has an epidemic on his hands, I'll be watching to see how he handles this.

IMO, the players association is the biggest obstacle to work through this.

Agreed and there doesn’t seem to be any players up in arms. I honestly think the players union is behind this more than silver. I think they sorta expected this to happen and are just taking it in stride. That’s what it feels like to me right now. We the fans seem more concerned than anyone in the NBA is.

yeah, i can't figure out the hype behind this either. it's been inevitable for years. i don't recall anything remotely like this leadup when ray beat reggie's record. and i can't even find video of reggie passing dale ellis

Heat are beating 76ers right now - just like they did it to us. When Heat is making their 3s (Robinson, Gabe Winston, Lowry) then they can beat any team on any given night. The difference is that we were missing key pieces and Vuc had his worst performance while 76ers just not playing well.

I think we played 76ers at the worst time when they were playing their best at the time. They have been just mediocre ever since.

i think they caught us on disadvantageous nights just like how we have caught the nets twice. Also got the feeling that Spolestra went a bit deeper into his coaching bag of tricks in the first meeting. I give miami the edge in a series due to playoff experience but their two lead dogs have some wear and tear on them.

Wish Luka were playing but that Lakers Mavs game was still a thriller. I generally always root against the Lakers(and James) but tonight seeing that rook hit a game winner and then get to be congratulated by the best player he'll ever play with was really cool.
