The jewels represent things that have happened along the way like Grimes' debut as a starter and Obi's between the legs yam.

Hopefully we'll get a jewel or two tonight

playing teamball is not a natural for ju...he has a pure scorer/finisher mentality

his passing is not timely and is contrived because it isnt second nature and instinctual for him

He's a good passer. For a PF.
He's a good facilitator. For a PF.
He thinks he can run an offense like a PG. He cannot.
He thinks his on ball skills are like those of an elite Guard/SF. They are not.

As has been covered multiple times by us all, if he was used a slightly different way, or if the personnel on the team allowed it, he'd look good. The $100 million dollar + question being, if those players exist and are brought in, will Randle truly adjust his game in a way to be worth his salary? Knicks and us fans about to spend 4 years trying to find out.

Spoiler:
It'll all suck

I don’t see anything wrong with what Randle said. Last year he knew how to balance scoring and passing. This season he’s been clearly over thinking it and at times it hurts the team. He just needs to get in a rhythm and figure it out

I'll still torture my self (and all of you with my posts) by watching a half of this garbage.

I blame Larry Brown and his play the right way nonsense.
Hey Julius, play the wrong way if that makes you play better.

It was reasonable and clearly he's been overthinking after Thibs got on his case for not meshing with the new players, even though they suck.

So, he kind of went in the other direction a bit and has to find his (your) happy place where he takes a bunch of shots and he scores lot of points, but the Knicks lose anyway because the FO is complete ass. :D

It's too bad because passing is actually his best skill. He has good vision and he can make some very advanced passes for a forward.

He's never actually been an efficient scorer at the 4. Some people have pointed to his TS% in LA and New Orleans, but he was playing a lot of minutes at center, which gave his teams no shot at winning.

The problem is that:

1. The starting line-up doesn't have a high-efficiency outlet (like Bullock last year) that Randle can go to.

2. Teams don't overreact to Randle's scoring anymore. Nate McMillan gave the whole league the blueprint on how to defend Randle - let him ISO or post-up, and send the help late. There's no help coming early to unlock Randle's playmaking.

I’ll be watching the second part of the South Park Covid movie on Paramount + instead of this hot garbage. And I would do the same even if everyone was playing.

Thank you for coming to my fireside chat.

The path to him and the Knicks being good is some talented wing who is a creative scorer and passer who gets the defense moving and gets Randle the ball on the move to the basket. In this fantasy, Randle then functions as a finisher, where I think with the defense on it's heels a little bit more, would be fairly effective. Then Randle could also pass to some other player, like make that nice kick out to an open 3 point shooter, or pass to big/cutting player of any size.

The Knicks did a kind of bootleg version of this at times with Randle and RJ, but it doesn't work because RJ is kind of stiff non explosive robot and Randle winds up with the ball instead, and then teams just follow the Miami/Hawks blueprint.

He made Randle who he was last year and that ended up costing us a long term commitment to Julius

Not sure he deserves a reward for that, he left us with a big F U

Zach Lavine/Ochai Agbaji/Corey Kispert

Maybe all game threads should be dedicated until talking about good TV shows and movies to watch. Ok, McBride and shows. Until Obi and RJ and Grimes get back. Knox? Who cares.

I’d still go for a Randle+Ingram pairing rather than a Zion+RJ one. Good thing about BI is that he can play and defend multiple positions and act as both playmaker and scorer.

It is hard to build around Ju but I think BI will complement him.

For Randle, toeing the line between attacking and facilitating remains a delicate balance.

"When I'm myself, I naturally do those things," he said. "When I'm hesitating and overthinking, when I've got an open shot and I don't shoot it, I'm trying to play the right way and get other people going, it kind of takes me out of rhythm. It takes away from my aggressiveness.

"It's crazy because that's when I start to get the turnovers.
But when I'm naturally aggressive and playing with force, everything kind of falls into place and I get into a rhythm."

Randle has seen his scoring, rebounding and assist totals decline from last season, when he was named the NBA's Most Improved Player.

randle thinks passing is bad for him

Randle literally saying that playing the right way takes him out of rhythm is wild.

He's saying what should be patently obvious to everyone by now: Thibs had him playing out of his gotdamn mind last season by limiting his choices, playing him nonstop, and making him the undisputed A-1 alpha with a permanent green-light (despite the upside potential of only taking us as far as 1 win in the first round).

As an ordinary human, I have no right to be critical of Julius failing to achieve basketball superstardom because what he's accomplished thus far is incredible; but it really doesn't bode well that his mental game keeps limiting his physical game. He was great when his options were limited to: A) Never pass to Elf; B) Never pass to Nerlens; C) pass to RJ every third possession or on corner threes; and D) hit Reggie on the arc when the double comes.

Give him too many options and it sure looks like his brain explodes and takes a fragile adolescent ego with it.
"Sell the team. Sell the team. Sell the team."
