The original is a classic. The other two weren't nearly as well received, but I have seen online lately that people are reconsidering them on rewatches.

Tommy Dubs

Spoiler:
I really relish the Tom scenes, and he had some incredible material this season. We've spent so much time with him, I had hopes he'd become more integral at some point, so the finale was really gratifying.

This is just an all-timer for me:

His scene at the diner with Kendall was one of the best of the show.

The sequels are legitimately bad movies, but the second somehow has one of the best action sequences of all time dropped in the middle of it.

I assume you're talking about the freeway scene and yeah that really is unforgettable.

I recently rewatched the first one with my son, I'd forgotten how much of it is just on location around the streets of Sydney. That's basically just what the city looked like back then, just about every time they were outside when they were in the matrix I recognised the exact spot (big city, but I was weirdly obsessed with walking every street as a teenager).

Yeah the first Matrix was one of my favorite movies ever. 2 & 3 are just terrible.

I assume this 4th one will be awful. There's almost no chance I'll watch it.

I don't remember a thing about 2 & 3, just that I didn't care for them. This wasn't on my radar, but these tweets have me intrigued.

Sounds like a departure from the trilogy. I'll check it out.

I may reconsider. The problem is that I'd have to watch 2 & 3 again to catch up which I don't relish at all.

Watching the holiday classic Die Hard 2. Fun fact: the dude who plays Esperanza has 240 acting credits and is still going in 2021. For comparison sake, Bruce Willis has 143. Nic Cage has 110.

I can't understand not enjoying the hell out of it.

Spoiler:
I do wonder how it would hit if you weren't familiar with the movies that came before. I think it's still a good super hero movie, but this was obviously a movie for fans who had seen what came before.

That said, I wouldn't even say I really liked most of the films in the series. I recently watched Spider-man 2 and that one really doesn't hold up anymore. Obviously 3 was terrible. I've only seen random scenes of the Amazing Spider-Man series that might equal the whole two movies if pieced together. I think Tom Holland is a great Spider-man, but I didn't love either of the first two movies at all. Some great moments, but not great movies.

But No Way Home gives you an avalanche of fan service from all those movies to the point where I can't even believe what I'm watching. The story rules and it all somehow actually works. The beats hit perfectly.

I can't wait to see it again.
Spoiler:
Honestly I still think the train sequence in Spiderman 2 is one of the best action set pieces you'll see in a superhero movie. But yeah I agree No way home does rely A LOT on having seen what's come before it but since I have seen what comes before it I can't complain one little bit.

I'm just hoping that they aren't done with making solo movies for Hollands Spiderman now cause I'm really happy they reset the character a bit.

Spiderman works best as a character when both his personal and superhero life both kind of suck but he continues to do because he knows its right. They had gotten away from that quite a bit with all the Stark tech, everyone he knows knowing his identity and super powered friends.

Loved The French Dispatch. The cast is stacked and Desplat composing the score was a perfect choice.

The format of the separate stories worked well. Previous Anderson movies probably could’ve been 2 hours of each story and been boring AF.

My only criticism was Chalameet’s segment. I thought he did great in “Call Me By Your Name” and haven’t seen him in a good role since. He’s a noticeably bad actor.

Spider-Man was fun. Going to be tough to top Spider-verse though.

If you don't have the confidence to catch up on the fly (and you should), just read the wiki summaries.
