I was on board with the team banning him to start the season. I'm also fine with this move.

I think keeping him away to start the year was important. The team needed time to build chemistry and figure things out. Having Kyrie in and out to start the year would just make that more complicated. Now we have a 30 game sample size. We have a good idea of what everyone can do. We've built chemistry. We've had some huge wins. Now bringing in Kyrie is more like a boost instead of complication while we're trying to figure things out.

Also this is important to boost his trade value. Teams see that we're getting 0 out of Kyrie.

Funny that this is happening when half our team is out with COVID though.

So how is he getting paid?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

The same as always: he gets paid for road games, but not home games.

Probably still won't get paid for home games.

I'm with it. Hopefully being back will push him towards full time availability.

What are the other teams rules regarding mandates? For example would Kyrie be able to play in California while being unvaccinated like opposing player's are allowed to play at the Clays?

I believe the nba said visiting players don’t have to adhere to the mandates. For instance Beal played in Brooklyn when the wiz came to town

Let's see what's going to happen. We decimated with protocol rule. Not enthused though.

With our luck, watch this guy contract COVID not long after he's activated.

Why not? At this rate, KD is gonna get injured. So Ky coming back even for road games is huge.

What if game seven of the nba finals is in Brooklyn and he can’t play.

I'm over the moon with this decision! What we were doing with KD's minutes was always unsustainable and apart from all the logical arguments both for and against this decision that people will have about this, I just can't wait to see this guy ball again.

Then he can't play. Simple as that. Hopefully everyone else is healthy if it comes to that.

Kyrie's also gonna have to immensely toughen up mentally. The media is gonna be all over him before and after good and bad games and they'll definitely start asking the team about him as well before Kyrie's actually returned and definitely comment on him after home games.
