Oh damn, that's brutal.

To be fair he picked a risky time to try and return, given the state of the Nets right now

And there it is  . Right on cue. Kyrie shows up to the Nets’ facility for the first time all season and on his first day gets Covid from his vaccinated teammates. Wild.

KD, Kyrie, Harden ALL have COVID. LMA has COVID, Harris is injured.

Basically were only playing backups.

Kyrie is required to test negative for 5 straight days before he can return to basketball activities. Maybe that's all this is. Or maybe he got the virus, which would be predictable considering he's not vaccinated. I don't think we know right now.

So Durant is no out with covid. Seems like every team has players out with covid. This is out of hand. They need to do something else.

Ha I can relate to your comment because I was thinking things were manageable and fine enough... until my C's players started going down yesterday, and then I'm like Yo this is stupid as hell they need to do something!!

I think the NBA is holding out as much is at can to salvage this season just like before the Rudy Gobert situation in 2019-2020. The money is too huge. Some teams have been hit with COVID other teams injuries some teams both. It's up to the NBA to sift through the rubble and see if there's enough watchable games left to recoup the season.

Btw. Durant was one of the nets to test positive last season. Ugh. Already had covid once. Is vaccinated and now has it again. It’s bubble time nba. Let’s do this

Kyrie could be in protocols following league-mandated COVID procedure to pass five negative tests before returning to basketball activities. Or, he could have unknowingly reported back infected. Regardless, it's wholly irresponsible to speculate that (1) he has COVID or (2) he definitively contracted it from a vaccinated teammate. You don't know this; no one does; therefore, it shouldn't be received as a factual statement. Such short-sighted statements can change the entire scope of discussion and lead to derailment of the topic.

I'm maintaining the solution is to stop testing players who aren't sick. COVID is going to continue to evolve and we're all going to get it multiple times in our lifetimes. The NBA has to learn to adapt. We can't just suspend play every year during the season because of this.

More like it’s time to base things on being symptomatic, I’d say if a player goes 48 hrs after testing positive and is still not symptomatic, let them play.

You really think they should cancel the season? And what, cancel next season and the one after that right?
That should never be the option. Taking a break, maybe...

So if the players don’t want to lose money and the owners don’t want to lose money, I see no reason for them not to continue on.

As long as fan safety and measures to limit the spread amongst fans is happening I agree.

Agreed, but even then I think the fans will have some responsibility there. The fan should know going into a closed arena in the middle of Covid and during a time where high transmission is going on. The fan should take responsibly knowing that might be deemed a “higher risk” event to go to.

The big issue is a lot of fans like myself bought the season tickets 1 year ago, when we thought things might be back to normal by this time. If they would give us an option to opt-out and give us a refund, I would sign for it. Even if you sell too many of them they will flag you as a reseller, which will lead to cancellation of your season tickets with no refund. NBA doesn't seem to care about safety right now at all, just about $$, and they seem to do anything for that. I have a booster so I think I am safe, but...you never know with all these variants.

That makes more sense and is probably the reason why, but wouldn’t they have started testing before he comes back?

Good note about the Kyrie situation from infinite11285 (a few comments above).

Another general point about the Protocol I've tried to hammer home a few times:

Going into the Protocol doesn't automatically mean the player has COVID. If can often just mean they were in contact with someone who has it. So the player has to return two negative test results before they can play. To be on the safe side (in the view of the NBA).

It's kinda ironic because they are intentionally vague about it to protect the medical privacy of the players. But then people assume the player has COVID even if they don't. Which probably isn't want they want us to do lol.
