Ok. What about form? Is that frozen too? I know you said that we're using the versions we expect them to be in a couple months, but how does that work exactly? It's got me thinking about guys like LeBron and a bunch of others who haven't been drafted yet. Suppose we don't all agree on certain players' projected form. Like what's the consensus on LeBron 9 months from now? Who is to say Luka actually plays better than he is playing now? Plus those other players who haven't been drafted yet. There's a reason they haven't been drafted yet, so how does that affect their projected forms? If their projected forms are much better than current, doesn't that make them sort of like unintentional "steals"? If they're worse or the same, then we gotta treat LeBron and Luka similarly too, no?

The key is a realistic playoff shape they will have in a few months.
And you can argue using current and recent performance + age curve.
If someone was great last year but has a small injury or in not in shape at the moment, you can easily argue he'll be ready in a few month.
In LeBron's case, I would take what he was 1 year ago but add the aging factor (he's getting to the basket much less). Moreover, for guys with frequent small injuries we can use the minutes as the main factor. Even LeBron, we can say that he's going to get too high minutes there's a significant chance of injury during the season, hence argue that he's going to be used less but closer to full strength.

It's my first time, so any suggestion is welcomed!

For a Celtics fan, it's probably realistic to expect he won't be the same player ever again. Go figure! Everything is subjective and anything can be questioned. So just wanted to say I did a rank of possible #1 picks before I knew where I’d be drafting, and the 11 guys picked so far were my top 11.

Draft ordering hasn’t been exactly my order naturally, but every single pick so far has struck me as quite reasonable.

As much as I'm a Rudy Gobert fan, I'm maybe a pinch surprised to see him go as high as 8th [though only a pinch].

But not with Butler [I can name-drop now he's off the table ]. If anything, I'm maybe a pinch surprised he slipped all the way to 9th.
At any rate, I think he's a steal at that pick; I think people just sleep on how good he is (just like they did last year with him not making the All-Star team). But the guy's averaging basically 23/6/5 on +5.2% rTS with *less than 2 turnovers......AND he's an All-D level defender.

*Take a peek at Jimmy's Per 100 Possession numbers: he's averaging 34 pts and 7.8 ast for every 2.9 tov.........for reference, Michael Jordan [often name-dropped as the GOAT wing turnover economy] from '88-'93 averaged 2.9 topg, in exchange for 32.5 pts and 6.2 ast.
I mean, Butler's ball-control is astounding for a wing.

And it's not like he can't perform in the playoffs. Although he stunk last year in a tiny sample, look at both '19 and '20.

That seems a bit dicey to me, especially considering we all have to agree on what a realistic playoff shape is for most of these guys. Like Falco said, LeBron's realistic shape is not gonna be easy to agree on, and I'd argue it's similar for this year's Luka. He may round into last year's form, but then again he may just be having a down year a la Le2007. Do we all agree on which it is?

My thoughts keep going back to those guys who haven't been drafted yet, and it seems to me that it's because of their current form as opposed to their realistic playoffs shape. When they eventually do get drafted and it's time for their evaluation, I'd feel uneasy accepting a playoffs shape that would've had them drafted significantly higher than they actually were. I can't mention names, but hopefully y'all can picture who and what I'm talking about.

So, I dunno, my suggestion would be to either commit to their current form or their 2021 forms, just to have a stable point of reference. Judging by the picks so far, It seems that's what everyone is drafting on anyway.

For what it's worth, it wasn't easy making the choice. Midround picks are terrible for me because at that point, the no-brainer guys are off the board and you have to start balancing your choices between semi-replicable superstars and irreplaceable, yet not quite superstar-level, team boosters.
Imo none of the remaining guys bring so much that it outweighs guaranteeing what I hope will be the best defense in the tournament. And if things go my way, I've got my eye on some All-stars (and if I'm really lucky, some All-NBA types) to plug up the holes Rudy has. We'll see how it goes.

Ok, sorry for the delay but I have just run my simulation and here's the final order.
A reminder on the rules:
- we start Saturday at 18 UTC (do you're mat, wherever you are!)
- every team has a total 24h to make a pick, max 8h for each pick
- whenever you pick quote the guy after you so that he knows he's on
- if you know you'd be off for several hours, you can send you're list to me via PM (if anyone else wants to help...)
- if after 8 hours the first pick hasn't been made we'll ask if someone as a backup wants to join in

Based on the discussions we had, I think it makes sense to keep out players with long term injuries such as Klay, Kawhi, MPj, Murray and, with the new developments, Zion (Pj Dozier and Kira Lewis as well...).
In case of any doubt about other players we can have a discussion here.
Remember these guys at realistic playoff shape for this year.

As much as I'm a Rudy Gobert fan, I'm maybe a pinch surprised to see him go as high as 8th [though only a pinch].

For what it's worth, it wasn't easy making the choice. Midround picks are terrible for me because at that point, the no-brainer guys are off the board and you have to start balancing your choices between semi-replicable superstars and irreplaceable, yet not quite superstar-level, team boosters.
Imo none of the remaining guys bring so much that it outweighs guaranteeing what I hope will be the best defense in the tournament. And if things go my way, I've got my eye on some All-stars (and if I'm really lucky, some All-NBA types) to plug up the holes Rudy has. We'll see how it goes.

I personally think you got a bit of a steal. Maybe not from a perspective of convincing voters, but I think people are underestimating how good the Jazz have been - absolutely could have won the title last year if not for injuries - and how fleshed out the theory of how to get there is.
