Is more than Justified!!! G League will do very little for this kid moving forward …. Let him play 20 guaranteed every night - dammit!
Well I don't think he should get
guaranteed minutes, but he definitely needs to be playing more than ~8 minutes per game. The reality is they still have a lot of mouths to feed and Kerr will want to keep everyone on the bench engaged.
It's going to get even worse (or better depending on how you look at it) when Klay and Wiseman are back. All the starters plus Poole, GPII, Iguodala, Porter, and Bjelica are going to continue to get playing time. Kuminga's minutes would have to come out of time for guys like Lee and JTA. Right now Kuminga is at 8.5 mpg, I don't see him able to get more than 12-15 anytime soon barring injuries. Maybe he could take some of Looney's minutes, but again, Wiseman will get the lion's share of those and I think Kerr still likes Looney as a steadying veteran influence who knows the system and his teammates so I don't see him getting cut out very much.
Bottom line is I don't see Kuminga finishing the year averaging more than maybe 14-15 mpg even though I would love to see more of him.
