Whatever lineup starts its gotta be 35+ mpg for all of FVV GTJ OG Scottie Siakam.

Long term wise, Pascal for obvious reasons.

Yeah I was torn at the time, and would vote Trent now. Microwave scorer off the bench, which otherwise lacks scoring. I'm afraid Nurse will do the easy thing and play Pascal, OG and Barnes as the frontline. I'm convinced that won't work as a starting unit, but I recognize it's hard to sit either Gary or Scottie, even though a 6th man minutes could still be high.
But when they're both healthy one of Birch or Precious has to play aside from short bursts of the small ball no-center lineup. OG Pascal and Scottie are good to great wing defenders and are wasted guarding bigs in the post.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

I also want to see us play big with Fred/OG/Barnes/Pascal/Birch. GTJ can come in and light it up win any combination of the starters.
The 29th ranked bench is an inflated/deflated number. Once we are healthy, the bench production will no doubt increase regardless of who goes to the bench.
I think Scotty's development gets stunted if he goes to the bench. Right now he just needs to learn about being the number 2 or 3 player on the team. We need to reward his patience for, at many times, being the best player on the floor, while not getting the volume of shots he should.
Not really. You realize almost every team in the NBA has dealt with injuries/covid situations too right?
The injury excuse for us is weak. They're just not that talented and/or experienced right now.
Reminder again bench points scored is not the only measure of bench impact. Also misleading as the bench includes Pascal, FVV, Scottie and Gary and the bench points don't account for them. Pascal and FVV take most of the shots during bench minutes. So the actual bench have very few shots (29th in league in FGA).

And if Scottie or GTJ go to the bench, the production will increase and they will be no longer be 29th. Or please explain this alternate scenario where we stay 29th when one of these players goes to the bench.

Scottie off the bench doesn't hurt you development imo. He goes from 3rd or 4th option on offence on the SL to the first off the bench.
It's a different role and exposing him to as much as possible this year is good

Yeah, the player we’re clearly going to build our future around is not coming off the bench.

Exactly, and one who is still probably pissed for having to come off the bench behind a bunch of college kids

If he did, he'd still be getting 30 mins a game.

Let's playin for 9th!

Re: Odd Man Out From Starting Lineup?
Barnes makes the most sense. Its a good way of increasing his usage and put him in a ball handling position.
i'm still holding out for a eric gordon trade so we can roll with a flynn/gordon/barnes/yuta/precious lineup.

We will be over the tax next year with Gordon.

i think we'll be around 132M with his addition, which will give at least 4M in space and more likely to be a little bit higher with the lux tax number going up. we have no major free agents except for maybe yuta who is very replacable.

I think we will be 114m with 10 players, adding Gordon will be 134m with 11. Assume rookie contract is 2.5m (20th pick), we will have 136m with 12 players. The tax was reported at 140m previously, but unless the new tax is being 145m (and we are not picking in the lottery), we may have a hard time using 4m to fill 3 players (and Watanabe has no better offer).

4M for 2 players is much more doable. we may just leave one spot open. it'll be close though.

Yes, barely, and that depends on the rookie contract. 15th pick earns 5m more, meaning we are above the tax before we fill those 2 players.
I think if we need a change, it will be one of our starters. If it is not OG, then it is either Siakam, VanVleet or Trent. Otherwise, we are trying to acquire someone in the 17m - 18m range (eg. Turner).

Scottie already plays with the bench. It's worked quite well. As do Pascal, Fred and Gary Trent. The Bench's 29th ranking in points does not account for scoring from the starters while playing with the bench.
You move Scottie to the bench and they'll still be 29th because it's no different to how they're playing now. Bench points still won't show the points scored by starters while playing with the bench.

Bet we won't see all these guys playing in a game together. Between all of them they will take turns being "injured".
