Re: Official 2022 Draft Thread
My under-the-radar type that could climb to lottery is Christian Koloko from Arizona.
He reminds me of Clint Capela a bit. Over 7 feet and has a huge wingspan - estimated to be at 7'6" - and he is very mobile able to get blocks from a range of spots on the floor. Averages 3.5 blocks per game (14.9 blk%).
Here he is shutting down Kofi Cockburn, who is basically Shaq size, numerous times.
One interesting fact is the he is from Duoala, Cameroon birth place of Pascal Siakam. He is a former soccer player as you can see from the video below so he has great, quick feet. He also just sounds like Pascal to me. With his background and playing at BWB, you'd think he would be on Toronto's radar.

Ivey is a better passer?
I think even we are not drafting them, there are still a few good 3&D prospect with good upside.
Do you think Patrick Baldwin can play SF or even SG? He's just so calm though, too calm. Like Tim Duncan calm.
You probably don't want to take my word seriously.
But my thought on Baldwin is that he may play as a SF (or Forward).
Personally don't see him as SG. His handle seems to be a bit high, and I don't feel he has the quickness to play the SG. So far he is using his size and length to get to the rim instead of quickness, so I am not sure he can play the guard spot.

What's our draft capital looking like for this year. How many picks do we have, and do we have any Xtra 2nds ?

One first round pick, no second round, I believe

Him and Mathurin are probably on our radar for sure.

I know he is an unusual body-type, but this kid can really zing some passes. I'd love to play pick-up with him.

Re: Official 2022 Draft Thread
This guy has a tough draft range to peg, as he wouldn't be a guy they target in the lottery, but in that 15-20 range he makes sense. Isaiah Jackson went 22, so it kind of makes sense he'd be in a similar range given the special numbers, size and mobility he possesses.
He is going to be 22 on draft night, so may be age pushes him to the second round. Pascal was kind of similar coming into the league. Like Pascal, Christian only played organized ball since age 15, so he is growing pretty quickly each year but he is a late bloomer.
Toronto would have to creative to get this kid. If we end up with a 10-15 pick, maybe a trade down to get a couple late first might make sense.

Yukk, Kofi has no bounce, no lift. Hard pass after just seeing that.
Isn't Mathurin a lottery prospect, I doubt we finish in the lottery if that's the case

Two totally different prospects
I've been high on Mathurin since watching him play for Canada this past summer, I really liked what I saw and he has been balling out this year. I don't know if he's a legit 6'6, but his size, shooting, and scoring would be welcome addition at SG for us.
Ivey gets the Morant comparisons because of the way he explodes to the rim, the guy can really get to the basket out of no where. The hair also doesn't help either. Ivey's mom is also the coach at Notre Dame, so you know he knows his basketball. I think he's a Top 5 lock, I currently have him 4th, but could go Top 3 if someone is looking for a SG.

I think he's a SF. In my opinion, you are what you can defend, I see him more naturally suited to guarding small forwards.
That comes with a caveat though, because you could slot him at the 2-spot offensively, and have him guarding the 3 on defense. We're lucky that we have two really solid defenders in Anunoby and Barnes who can guard whoever is in front of them 1-4.
If we did draft him, going long would make us difficult to match up against and I would expect Nurse to do it at times.
It's worth noting that Baldwin has been struggling lately though, originally I thought he was a Top 5 lock, but I could see him sliding.

Don't give up the lottery dream so early - damn, is it already over. I know things are looking like we might actually make a playoff run, but anything can happen.
Mathurin is definitely near the top of the list of picks for Toronto. I think his range from 5-10 as there are some pretty singular talents at the top. If we end up in the ten range, I really like Ivey, Mathurin, Houstan, AJ Griffin, Jovic.

I think the video only showing him against 6'6 guys, shooting over them. I am not sure he can get his shot off when he is matched against similar length and quickness.
I also think he will get a lot of 3 seconds call, simply don't think he can move out of the paint quick enough

I think there could be enough competition with Mathurin, Jovic dropping out of top 10, while houstan and Griffin maybe just outside of the lottery. If we missed them, we may have to settle for a few 3&D prospects in Champagnie (twin brother), Watson, Walker, Moore if we are more interested in the 6'8 prospects. Still plenty to decide.

He reminds me of Marc Gasol's early days. Nice shot. High IQ. Good sense of rebounding and positioning. Tall. Black hair. I think he might go undrafted or at the very least I hope he got a scholarship to attend school.

It's not just that he's struggling, he's struggling against mid major competition. A guy of his caliber should be dominating those schools, at least this is what I've been led to believe by the likes of Chad Ford. His percentages are downright awful, but I'm not sure what kind of coverages he's seeing, maybe he's getting double and triple teamed, which might explain the poor shooting numbers.

Re: Official 2022 Draft Thread
This draft is shaping up to be pretty bad so far outside the top 5 Baldwin has been very disappointing duren doesn't look like he has any basketball iq. AJ griffin I'm still up on but so far only plays good against garbage team but he is coming back from injury. Hardy doesn't play defence and is a volume shooter on bad percentages. Hopefully some of these guys improve .
