The Trae-Middleton pair is not super clear to me, in terms of where to next.

The problem is, Trae isn't a great fit with the high-volume, weaker defensive guards and wings like LaVine, Beal, Booker, etc who were likely to be available with my second pick.

I don't mind Trae and Middleton as a duo but I'm rapidly running out of the right pieces to put around them.

The absolute best fit next to Jokic. Already a top 10 [Top 5?] defender in the league.

I'm glad you see their fit similar to I do. :)

Since I knew there were 30 picks between my first and my second I basically gave up on the idea of coming up with a wishlist. I mean you can say "Giannis would be interesting with Jokic, so he's first on my list", but you know he won't be available, so who will?

Had no idea, but did think "Wouldn't it be cool if I could get Mobley with that spot?" Didn't know if that would be super-early or too-late, but it was an exciting possibility. There were plenty of other good options had he been taken before he got to me, but none that made me giddy in the same way.

I don't think they are a problem to fit together, it's more what you're looking for after you start that way.
I won't share my view on this, just a general comment at this stage.

Jokic allows you to not go for a creator already in the second round.

Yup, Jokic definitely gave me a bit of a skewed perspective on what to prioritize compared to most, and even there getting another big isn't necessarily the obvious approach building around Jokic, but I wanted to know I had someone who could have his back in bad match ups, and someone showing the ability to adapt and work with other players regardless of their skillset.

May be cold comfort, but I'm looking forward to see how you build around a player of a new mold. It's probably a bit of a disadvantage objectively speaking, because others will judge you based on what's proven successful in the past, but it's more interesting to see what happens with guys who require different planning than we're used to.

Nets was only in question based on Kyrie not playing, so in that sense, not that much of a story. I think the interesting thing with Kyrie is that players and mainstream fans probably would put an actually-playing Kyrie as a 1st rounder in this league, and I kinda doubt he'd have been drafted that high here even on a good day.

Bucks is interesting because Jrue Holiday is scales so well to this league. Not one of the 32 best alphas in the NBA, but easily one of the 32 best prospects in this league.

Not sure precisely what you mean, but in case it's helpful, here's the link to the spreadsheet I made for this project.
