They have had almost 2 years to deal with this. Sure .. let's blame the sick and not the hospitals that have yet to figure things out. Makes sense. I have been in and out of hospitals for the last 8 months watching my old lady die(while dealing with my own health issues) and one of them had an entire wing that wasn't even being used during that time. Most likely so they could save money.
While I understand your point to a small degree...it is ridiculous and goes against the basic premise of healthcare. Every time I need to schedule appointments...they were 2-3 months out. When there was no surge and the numbers were in fact...at their lowest since this all started.
It isn't the sick people who are the problem. It is the system itself that needs to be fixed....for the longest time.
One thing about America is we have the ability to socialize medicine to a large degree and get it on par with many of the countries in Europe, but we don’t have any political consensus to do that. It’s a massive overhaul, but probably one of the best things we could do as a nation. We’re often a socialized country already when it comes to government programs, but it seems the term socialized medicine are fighting words still.
Yeah...healthcare for profits is working so well....why change it? To the other posts about the corruption in our government...this is just another example. Get the dirty money out of politics. Period. Media also needs an overhaul. Accountability is non existent. The only social programs they never want to cut involve corporate welfare. Our infrastructure is a "social program" that the greedy corporations also don't want to pay for. I'm just sick of it all and I'm glad I'll be dead soon enough compared to the young people who WILL be left holding the bag.
As for omicron. The hype is going to end up a bunch of nothing. As I stated on here months ago...the virus will weaken and the fear should too. Most viruses evolve to sustain the host without killing them in order to survive. That is what is happening now. The hype will have you believe this surge is worse but...it isn't. The money shift is all you need to follow to see exactly what is going on. Natural immunity is being ignored while the vaccine proves ineffective at stopping the virus. Makes no sense. Booster shots are the solution? Nonsense. Herd immunity is the solution and it will happen with or without the vaccine. The vaccine is nothing more than a symptom reducer that mainly high risk people need...and not EVERYONE!
Yes, campaign finance reform is the # 1 thing that would clean up politics to a large degree. And the amount of corruption is so heavily tilted in the direction of the GOP now that you will only ever sniff such a change via the Democrats. I have never seen corruption on the scale of the Trump Administration and we'll be cleaning up their crimes for years.
Justice is necessary to nudge things in the right direction. People who believe everyone gets away with everything are in for a shock soon. RICO charges. Wire fraud. Sex Trafficking. So many heads are going to roll for good reason.
The GOP became dirty AF and they are about to be dismantled by a more honest party. Anyone who can't tell the diff between the parties now is not worth wasting time arguing with any longer. Bringing these criminals to justice is part of clawing back to preserve actual democratic processes and restoring the institutions that do serve the public.
There are millions of civil servants who serve us. Are they all the same? No. They're doing their jobs. Some well, some not, but they're part of the system the legislators belong to and the cynicism I see that tries to obliterate any truth by saying everything is the same and nothing matters is a cancer eating away the minds of the public.
The GOP drove itself off the moral cliff precisely by promoting the Everybody is Corrupt line since Reagan. They've done if for a very simple rhetorical and cognitive reason. It renders EVERYTHING, EVERY ARGUMENT meaningless. The decades of right wing shock radio and then TV primed American minds so that NO distinctions of truth would be discernible and then you can say WTF you want and not be held accountable.
You say THEY are corrupt when you are corrupt. It is the primary strategy in the right wing playbook for a long time now. And you know what happens? Because you were the one saying it all along people give you their trust. Why would the one who was saying it actually be the actual guilty party. It's reverse psychology and it has a done a number on the minds of Americans. They blah blah blah about NO big government and then people elect complete shills who are only in it to line their pockets from big government pork.
This is why I don't respect so many Americans. They don't want to know about facts, they just want a bad guy. And then when a really bad guy like Trump takes over they no longer have the ability to know who is really bad or not. So they say everyone is corrupt. NO! Trump and the GOP were corrupt on a scale never seen before. They were a mafia plundering our nation. There is a huge difference between them and the Democrat administrations that bracketed them.
But people don't care, because they only want to hear the stories they've been programmed to accept. So anytime you hear someone say they are all corrupt, especially some whore politician who says they'll clean up the swamp, run in the other direction, because that is the ultimate lie. Americans used to have some common sense, but now many of them no longer have functioning BS Detectors. They only eat chit with a grin thinking they are independent thinkers when many of them are nothing more than monkeys regurgitating conspiracy theories they watched on YouTube. It's sad.

As far as Omicrom, I said I do not respect hardcore predictions on what will happen. I think most scientists take that position so most of us civvies here have no basis for claiming we know how this will turn out. That's the kind of attitude IMO that could really harm you one day when a really potent virus emerges. So many people are overly confident about things they don't know and when a worse virus comes it will be devastating because we'll have a very slack attitude.
I suggest you take a hands off approach to these predictions. You could be right, but I'm not placing bets. Of course, do what you need to do to feel safe on a personal level.
