Is Memphis really worse with Morant? Haven't watched their games.

WT
As Memphis fell to the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder, Morant said he was hurt by remarks from some of the home fans. Angry with losing to a team they beat by an NBA-record 73 points without Morant, fans took those frustrations out on the point guard.

"Even during the game, I was running down the court and I heard some of my fans courtside tell me I need to sit back out," Morant said. "So, I just don’t understand what they wanted to get out of that. I feel like that just makes it worse.”

It's because it's a re-match of the playoffs last season. That's often been a thing with Christmas matchups for decades.

I thought it was absurd that sports media decided to dump on the Bulls all summer long as an 11th seed, but I found it even more absurd that DeRozan/Zach/Vuc Bulls couldn't get a national TV appearance. Were they really expecting a better show out of buy-out Kemba and Fournier?

They definitely dropped the ball. Bulls would be a serious show for X-Mas this yr.

The Bulls needed a shower because the stink was all over them. That shower started with the Vuc trade. Far from the best or final piece but man did the Bulls stink. They had to prove they didn’t. Now they have so the love will return but they also didn’t do anything last year where NYK did. You schedule it in the offseason.

Absolutely not. They are better with Ja. There is no question.

They went on a run, winning 10 of their last 12 without him. And then lost again vs OKC on his return... after pummelling them.

Well hopefully they trade him for Coby then! It’s not like Memphis is a bad team or culture with or without Ja but if such is the case and they think he is awful I personally would t mind some of his awful especially on a rookie contract on the Bulls.

Watching Horton-Tucker brick all those shots was rough. Hard to believe they're paying 10mil a season for this.

10 million and they had to let Caruso go to Chicago.

Eh - he had an awful game, but there's talent there. I think they got him on a fair value contract, and he has a solid chance of outplaying it considerable. On the other hand, if that shot doesn't improve (but everything else stays more or less the same), it's probably a mild overpay. But it's an understandable one - same as Portland taking a chance on Derrick Jones Jr. last year.

I'm much more interested in this year's unique, COVID-induced 10-day churn. Isaiah Thomas, after a couple of good games, also was awful. But there are a lot of interesting players getting 2nd looks from the league: James Ennis with the Nets (not sure why he didn't get a shot earlier) --- and also Langston Galloway and Shaq Harrison; Justin Jackson with the Celtics (and also old man CJ Miles); DJ Wilson and (insert gif of Vivek here) "Stauskas" with the Raptors - along with 6'7-6'8, 232 mobile combo-forward (but more 4) with 7'0 wingspan and solid 8'8 reach Juwan Morgan (how many of those type guys can Masai add?!?! - and why aren't AKME churning through some of the same given the situation at the 4?).

There's also Stephenson with the Hawks, and a 6'6 combo forward named Malcolm Hill who had a decent year in Israel last year; Tyler Johnson with the Sixers; Mudiay with the Kings. Luke Kornet joining Lauri and Valentine with the Cavs -- and also once believed to have some potential as a 3&D guy Justin Anderson. Moses Wright on the Clipps is also interesting.

Can't wait to see some other players come back and get there 2nd/3rd/4th shots - maybe some stick. More talent in the NBA isn't a bad thing. Does Perry Jones III leave the big3? Does Jan Vesely take another shot at the US after being a Euro stud? Does Hezonja come back and showed he learned a thing or two the last two years in Europe? What about 6'7 250 bull-build but somehow hoppy, yet with the wingspan and reach of a 6'9-6'10 guy Quincy Acy? Our boy Vonleh? Derrick Williams? Jarron Blossomgame? Does Mike James get another chance after looking ok with the Nets (but not dispelling character concerns)? 32 year old Marshon Brooks, who could always score (and hasn't slowed down too much in China)? Another scoring wing talent (though now 30) with some NBA experience who had decent enough years in Europe the past two in Jordan McRae? Do we see the return of Paul the man, myth, and legend Zipser (who has been playing very efficiently in Europe).

Memphis has been much worse this season when Morant is on the court. 14 points per 48 minutes worse. Then again, the Bulls have been 8 points worse when LaVine plays than when he doesn't. So take that statistic for what it's worth.

THT is a terrible fit on the Lakers as he's a non-shooter at the moment.

I think he's definitely worth $10 million but perhaps not to the Lakers.
