I like THT, but at this point he is a 7th man that the Lakers are trying to fool everyone into thinking that he is a starter. I DO think he will be a starter-caliber player over the next 2 seasons, but he's not Jimmy Gets Buckets. I hope I am proven wrong and that somebody can use this in a sig one day, but I don't see the "essential piece in trade for superstar" in THT yet

Why do I always see THT miss buckets when I turn to Laker games?

He’s awkward virtually everywhere on the floor, except when driving headlong for the rim.

Because he is shooting 37% this season.

His .475 TS% actually makes Russell Westbrook look like a marksman, but at least he's a better shooter than Kent Bazemore (TS% = .437).

Seriously, the young man can't legally buy a beer until tomorrow (Happy Birthday THT) so let's all give him a break. It's not his fault many Laker fans got overexcited and piled unreasonable expectations on such a young player. It's also not his fault that he's been prematurely thrust into the starting line up due to the Lakers lack of depth.

For a reasonable comp, look at Anfernee Simons. Simons is one year older and one year more experienced than THT. Last season, Simons struggled even as a 6th/7th man. No way was he ready to start in the NBA. This year, Simons looks like a solid 6th man on a middling playoff team.

That's the role THT should be in at this age, point in his career. To expect him to be a quality starter on veteran team with championship aspirations just isn't fair or realistic.

I like THT and think he has a decent future ahead of him. I was simply commenting that it isn’t a great fg%, so the chances of seeing a fair amount of missed buckets are likely any game somebody tunes in.

I'm surprised a Bulls fan doesnt watch his own teams games. He went 9-19 for 28 pts against the Bulls. THT has missed a lot of shots this season, but I'd expect a Bulls fan to have seen him make some shots.

I can't wait for the Austin Reeves is Good thread. Gotta love Lakers fans overhyping their scrubs.

THT's future is in doubt. Hes never going to be a #1 or a #2 on a team. He needs to devote his entire off-season to learning how to play without the ball. Either that, or Lakers are simply a bad fit for him.

He did that late in garbage time when the game was well out of reach

He's just not very good... Doesn't have the talent to become a star and lacks the skillset to be a winning role player on a team with championship aspirations.

At this point he's not even better than someone like Kessler Edwards, who while also raw, at least understands his role and will give you 100% effort.on defense every play.

This guy is an awful player. I cant believe the Lakers gave him 3 years 30 million.

Then again, 10 million a year is the going rate for a 11/3/4 guy who shoots 29% from three these days.

Those numbers would look great if he was coming off the bench.

The guy JUST turned 21 a month ago. Um not stating he's going to be a star or anything, but it's far too early to be writing him off.

He's got fantastic physical tools.

Terrible jumpshot form when not set and bad vision.

LeBron yet again ruined the team by tweeting the dude would be a star. Left the franchise no choice.

They could have had Lowry last season but didn't want to give up THT. Lol.

The problem is some Lakers fans propping him up as if he's a tier 1 prospect.

Not to beat a dead horse, but Lowry and Hero are keeping the Heat afloat while Bam/Jimmy get healthy.

He might have great physical tools, but the problem with him is he has a very limited skillset. He looks like a scorer who needs the ball in his hands, so he appears destined to be a sixth man his entire career. If he's not scoring, he's borderline useless, as he showed in the Suns game. He played 31 minutes and only had 3 points on 1-13 shooting, 2 rebs and 1 ast.
