If you can't get two people to agree on how important each is when making these lists, they're never going to agree on a GOAT. The fact is, there is no obvious GOAT. Flair is probably the closest. Decent draw as a top guy, huge catalogue of great matches, the best promo guy for like 25 straight years, and over as hell wherever he went. But there were bigger draws and guys with better match resumes. When you run down the list, every guy has deficiencies.

my dream match (Brock vs. Bryan) ended up happening

This is one of my favorite matches of all time.

Kobblehead wrote:I think Reigns needs to prove he can work as a babyface as a singles competitor in the main event scene before he truly enters the conversation.

Meh, Reigns was about as successful as a main event babyface as Flair was. Flair had that one match against Vader in whatever year that was, but his main event babyface runs were pretty tepid, despite being absolutely beloved in territory. The key to being in the conversation in WWE is credibility. WWE's main event heels don't typically have credibility, especially when they're champions, so it's valid to want to see him do it on top as a face. But he's kind of changed the way heels are booked in the main event. He's as credible as any face on the roster at the moment.

Great points re: the art of wrestling versus the business of wrestling, and that Flair has the most of both. Also agreed that his baby face runs were meh.

Brock vs. Bryan was just awesome. The match that I wanted way back when was Bret vs. Hogan at Summerslam but Hogan made sure that wasn’t happening.

The fans loved Reigns organically at first, then refused to acknowledge him as the next guy for years as a babyface until the company finally went all in on a heel turn for him (which is what the fans had been clamoring for all along). Now he’s on one of the most dominant runs ever, and it doesn’t look like anyone is going to beat him any time soon.

HHH, Undertaker, Bryant, Reigns, etc

Atmosphere was really flat as there was no commentary during matches and just the sound of hitting the mat etc

Is that usually the case?

Think it was 2018 & Taker was basically a cripple as his knees were completely shot while HHH was not much better

I read about the product more than I watch the product nowadays if that makes sense. That show in Australia was to make tons of money and showcase a lot of older guys who were mostly retired or semi-retired at the time so I’m not surprised about the vibe. I think the atmosphere depends on the city and the arena. Taker’s done for good at this point and Triple H just had a heart attack a couple weeks ago.

I look at him and I see dollar signs. He's going to sell the crap out of every feud he's in, on the mic. He'll routinely steal the show with his segments on Smackdown/Raw. His PPV angles are going to be red hot heading into them.

Agreed. He has “IT,” and is only going to get better and better as the years go on. As they say in Sunny, he’s not even close to peaking. I see a lot of Jericho and Miz in him (Miz is one of the all time greats in my book, by the way).

I am the same and haven’t watched more than a few minutes at a time for a couple of years

Will say that it was a very slick operation and that the wrestlers I saw (same hotel) were really accommodating with the fans

Memphis have been better without Ja & lost on his return

Far more team oriented play & better at both ends without him

Easy argument to make that Simmons fits better with their gameplan but Ja is on a rookie deal

Kid sounded heartbroken listening to his interview this morning. That's rough. Definitely more than a small sample size for sure with regard to the win loss and defensive metrics. A trade could definitely be worked but I highly doubt Memphis would do that. You could send out Ben, Maxey, Drummond, for Morant, Adams, Culver.

No, not trolling. Did I go on the Memphis page suggesting this? And stated I highly doubt Memphis does this. SImply a thought on a trade thread

Exactly

There’s trades out there that make sense for many good players ON PAPER but doesn’t mean that the majority would be seriously considered

For example, there’s some logic behind Lakers trading AD but I don’t think it will happen anytime soon

Ben has more all-star/playoff appearances than Ja.

Ben also can’t shoot and was basically useless in the playoffs. While JA was avg 30+ against the Jazz in the playoffs.

Pelicans (11-21) are 14th in the West and they have Ingram
Thunder (10-19) are 13th in the West and they have Shai
Portland (13-19) are 11th in the West and they have Lillard
Kings (13-19) are 10th in the West and they have Fox

I think we can get one of these players in the next 1,5 months.

NBA trade deadline is in 50 days.

This attitude about Ben is gonna change really fast once he suits up... for the Sixers of course.

Even thought it’s obvious he’s never playing for us again, I’m curious what makes you think he’ll have improved on anything in his offensive game?

I´m not american so i probably just saw 3 or 4 wrestling bouts in my life( when Hulk Hogan was famous). But i never understood the appeal. Arent the fights fake? Why people like that much, if the results are predetermined?

Since you're not American, not sure if this comparison makes any more sense, but it's like the Harlem Globetrotters in that regard.

People appreciate the storylines, the characters, the craft, the work that goes into it. Wrestling is still very much physically taxing and often results in injuries and many wrestlers die young. I don’t keep up with it much anymore, but enjoy a live match every once in a while.
