PG out. Will be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks

Post#1 » by KL2 » Sat Dec 25, 2021 11:36 pm

Welp. So what happened? He missed 2 weeks with the injury then allowed to return for 2 games. Now this. Not a good look.

So from the looks of things, PG must have either been misdiagnosed or rushed back too soon. Remind me again why Ballmer still hasn't replaced the entire medical staff?

Hopefully PG is good to go for real in three weeks. In the meantime, it's time for the team to shift focus towards developing the young guys.

The NBA should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this.

Not encouraging at all. I know everyone heals differently but still. This is his shooting arm.

Enough fooling around with sending healthy bodies to the g-league. It’s all hands on deck now.

Now this doesn’t seem so dire.

big sad. meh

the good news is keon johnson and brandon boston are being given time to play, so here's the chance for their further development. the other good news is the bottom of the WC looks pretty meh, so we should be within striking range even if we dip a little. fwiw i don't actually think we're gonna have too, too much trouble.

also i did notice in the kings game he was messing with his arm a bit, but i was HOPING he was just testing it out. i guess as it turns out, he must have felt continued or worsened pain.

Jason Powell stole Christmas. Not the first time this happened and it won't be the last, unless Ballmer decides to take action.

Well this sucks... If the team is going to lose, I hope we lose while Brandon and Keon get big minutes. No excuse to not play them while other teams are signing 10 day players due to the covid hardship thing.

It's youngster time. Kennard, Mann, Boston, Keon, Coffey, Scrubb, etc it's time to see what you got. This whole max player thing has bitten us in the azz

Some reports said it was a tear while other says a sprain?

Is it the same thing?

Will it heal on its own or require surgery?

Covid and injuries are big wild cards this season. Even missing key players for 10 days (maybe they will reduce it to 6 if they can get negative tests), can cause teams to drop 2 or 3 games.

Just save him for next season when Leonard is back. Develop the young players the remainder of this season. Trade for a real point guard in the off season.

When I sprained my MCL, I read that a sprain is basically a tear, with mild or moderate sprains being small/ partial tears.

The severity of the sprain makes a huge difference here. Not sure what PG’s is.

my guess is if he isn't going into surgery already or in the very near future it's not THAT bad. but they need time to see if it'll heal all by itself. he also needs to be meticulous about not aggravating the injury, because if he does then he'll probably just need surgery.

and yeah a mild or lesser sprain is either a small/partial tear or micro tears

Fire Jason Powell. But in all honesty, team was fun to watch without PG this season, just saying.

seems like the post above indicated it is the same thing and that surgery hasn't been required in the past for basketball players. Hopefully that is accurate- don't know the reputation of the source

Now there are reports that he is out for the season ? WTF? This is probably the 15th time the medical team was full of **** in recent years about player injuries.

Possibly out for the season

Bad news on the PG front for sure. His injury is an odd one altogether, not a common one you hear about. I'm guessing the progress was not as expected.

Original report said he'd be reevaluated in 3-4 weeks. I don't think it was expected that he'd be back for 5-6 weeks, minimum. This is unfortunate, but not totally unexpected. It is, however, pretty vague.

His playing time should have been limited this season. Oh well. Hopefully the Clippers have a healthy Leonard and George next season to go with a nice core of young players (Mann, Kennard, Zubac, Coffey, Boston, K. Johnson, Preston, Scrubb) and vets (Morris, R. Jackson, Batum). I wouldn't mind seeing them make some trades either in the off-season. The team still has three more years of Leonard and George.
