A three-game home stretch has us start versus the ever dangerous depleted opponent. A professional approach of respecting them and executing our two-way game is necessary to keep building on our good play.

Well damn it. He posted being with his daughter in Instagram so hopefully this isn't going to spread among his family or the team. Fingers crossed!

Gone are the glory days of this franchise... in the past decade they've had 2 playoff appearances.

I say we add on to their pain and crush them.

I like the confidence! But I hope we show the requisite fear and take care of business early so we've got juice left for tomorrow's game.

Looks lees crisp with Diop in the starting line-up. Basically shifts three players down a position, but it keeps the second unit in tact. We're exchanging baskets with a heavily depleted team. Not sure it's the best strategy to keep a back-against-the-wall team around, but we look like we're careful to start. Need to make a strong push, get ahead, and keep it at that level.

Good push inside on P&Rs.

Two 1ST Q fouls on their starting big. Good.

Jock first big off our bench again. Also good.

Wholesale change with Tre, Devin, Lonnie, and Jock coming in and we pick up the pace and build a 10-point lead. But now they've cut it to within 6 Pop calls a timeout as they're getting too much inside. We can't be exchanging baskets with them on principle, make or miss.

I don't like that we're settling for a one and done or one pass and shot with this group. Not enough drives. In fact, I don't think there's been one from anyone with the group on the floor now. All outside quick shots, which plays to their benefit - less work on D, more energy for O where they're driving on us and we're fouling.

PLAY. SMART. BASKETBALL. SPURS.

1ST Q: SPURS 38

PISTONS 30

The good is we scored at will pretty much each time we ran a P&R or found cutters. The bad is we allowed 30 points by a heavily depleted team.

When our lead was trimmed we ran and got points inside to bring it up again. So we're getting points inside but we're fouling too much (5-6FTs for them is keeping them in the game more than it otherwise should), and we're turning it over too casually. Slippery hands inside, some strips for our contested passes into congested space inside, and not really crisp D. Better work on boards needed.

Half way through 2ND Q and we've yet to see Lonnie. It's not an accident. He needs to curb those 'get mine first' shot attempts that cause transition baskets for the opponent after not making them work on D.

Same thing with Bryn. Brutal on both ends. Sit.

Why Pop is the GOAT, reason 1M: Doug just gets us five consecutive points, and at the timeout, Pop is on the court instructing Doug. Likely D related. Always focused, always teaching. Love it.

2ND Q: SPURS 78

PISTONS 54

Well we had a 30-point lead but were stuck on 78 points for the last minute and a half as they cut into our lead by driving and us fouling them. One of their players is 8-10FTs which ties our entire team's output of 8-8FTs.

They're also winning the O board battle 10-4 and have seven steals on our 9TOs, so our ball protection definitely needs work. We're getting away with it because we've doubled the 3s output 8-4 and have twice the points in the paint 44-22, but basically a heavily depleted opponent can't keep up scoring on us even though they're besting us in a couple of categories. That's just bodies available, not good team D play. They got 24 points in the 2ND Q because we kept fouling inside, and allowed second chance points.

Lonnie is doing bad Lonnie things. He was subbed in with around five and a half minutes left, proceeded to miss two shots and fouled. The shots were of the 'get mine variety' again. In other words, the ball absolutely stops with him. When he gets it, he's shooting it, regardless of whether it's the best shot, regardless of whether it's early in the clock, regardless of whether others may have a better chance to score. In fact, the team stops moving when he gets the ball and just bloody watch him. It's like they know now and it's ingrained.

Bryn can't get minutes versus not just the Pistons, but a heavily depleted Pistons with his absolute piss poor play.

We allowed 54 points from a poorly efficient team and have a large lead because we have bodies and are shooting very efficiently. Our O and the circumstances are frankly hiding not great D and poor ball protection.

Stay focused, execute fundamentals, stay healthy, Spurs.

Good start in the 3RD Q. 21 points half way through the Q, better D though they're still just... getting almost anything inside. I guess we're conceding these or what?

Their starting C has four fouls. We got the fourth one on him early this Q. He's still bullying us down low. Maybe run some plays to go at him.

3RD Q: SPURS 119

PISTONS 80

Well we allowed 26 but we actually played better on both ends here. Primo in, Primo impact - great pass inside to Jock for a bucket, great drive but miss that Jock cleaned up, and a terrific 3.

Breaking: Lonnie passed when he wasn't absolutely contested with no other choice. Good tech FT shooting from him, though.

Tre dishing well.

Jock gets into trouble when drivers get a first step on him, but otherwise his D has been better. Contests whatever he can at the rim, too.

Bryn on D OOF Jesus. He does this thing where he takes an extra starting step to stay with drivers but in doing so he gives drivers an extra step.

41-point 3RD Q. Solid.

Bryn so dumb, my goodness. Drives into heavily contested key and gets blocked. READ THE PLAY.

Only game all year I cannot watch on LP. Pistons are a free win right now, especially with the covid issue. DNP-CD for Thad Young...ouch!

All these teams signing washed up retired vets and unknowns and we have a certified NBA forward getting DNPs. We really can't get anything for him right now?
