At least Cade should be back for our game against the Knicks on the 29th because its now just 6 days you need to be out with Covid and Cade was first out with it on Dec 22nd.

Raptors are missing almost their entire team as well and lost 144-99 to the Cavs... It'll be interesting to see if we end up doing better or worse than the Raptors tonight with our G League team playing against an NBA team.

oh wow i didnt know that.

It's Garza's defense. He won't move or even put his hands up. He just keeps sitting there on the bench and letting the Spurs light it up.

Garza has allowed opponents to shoot over 70% inside 5 ft this season and he'll be worse after tonight's game. He's also allowed them to shoot over 40% on him from three point range. He's done pretty well defensively outside of 5 ft and inside of 20 ft but he doesn't really defend against a lot of shots in that range.

I do agree we're allowing the Spurs to drive in at will, but if Garza is ever going to play bigger minutes in this league he ideally would be next to a mobile shot blocking 4 like Mobley or a young Ibaka to help slow down penetration. Or, he'd be better off if the team had solid guard/wing defenders so he didn't need to do as much protecting the rim.

I'm a Garza fan I've wanted to see more, and I love that he plays hard, battles, and is skilled offensively... as well as having a good bball IQ and attitude about his role and showing a willingness to get better. But his poor defense isn't a myth.

Instead of all this Garza arguing, we should have just signed Landale for nothing!!

Ok I’ll shut up about him

No disagreement. I'm just saying that Bey's defense is worse and no one seems to call it out or flag it as a concern. Bey has gotten to the point where he can't guard anyone, due to both inability and effort. It's like a guard or forward blowing by his man--often Bey--Garza can't pick him up in time, the player scores, and the problem is Garza's lack of defense.

Bey definitely seemed better defensively last season. I can understand shooting slumps and struggles expanding his offensive role, but it's weird to see the defensive part of his game decline.

He's gotten awful. And I'm not talking about just stats or +/-. You just have to watch him, literally. Don't watch any other player but Bey for a few minutes; he's horrid.

Even with Bey's recent improved offensive play, as time goes on it feel more and more he's going to be best suited to be a scorer off the bench. The reality is the 2020 draft is likely four bench guys in Lee, Hayes, Bey, Stewart... And perhaps Garza could join them so we picked up our bench and Cade the last two years now we just need to get four starters to go around Cade. One with 2022 Cap Space... One with our 2022 draft pick, one in the Jerami Grant trade... and one "might" be Diallo but more likely comes from somewhere else or if one of the 2020 guys steps up to be something more.
