Re: Around The NBA : 21-22 Edition
After averaging less than 1 minute per game for each of the previous 4 seasons, player/assistant coach/locker room guy Udonis Haslem has played 17 minutes the past 2 games. Which gives an indication of how depleted the Heat (and half of the rest of the league) has been. The guy has been pretty good for a 41 year old, I must say. He has gone 10/6 in those 17 minutes, that is more than just filling a slot.

none of that matters. completely irrelevant to how one guy played. it's not like the sixers were game planning to stop cam reddish. and stop pretending that you watched the entirety of a hawks-sixers COVID scab game. if you had been, you would have recognized skylar mays as player of the game...easily. HE was the guy who got the job done in the 4th quarter of a tight game. 9 of the team's final 22 points, getting to the hole at will. TEN more rebounds than reddish, 1 fewer TO. reddish scored 4 more points in the game because...he took 4 more shots!
dieng - 8 shots from floor (including those fouled on), 12 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal and no TO in only 14 minutes of play. HIGHLY productive
okongwu - 10 shots, 13 points, 8 rebounds, 1TO, 3 blocks
mays 11 shots, 14 points, 11 rebounds, 1TO
collins 12 shots, 17 points, 5 rebounds, 2TO
reddish 15 shots, 18 points, 1 rebound, 2TO
reddish only scored more points than those other guys because...wait for it...he took more shots! and did nothing else while the others did. as such, they ALL had more effective games than he did. also, leaving the game early is not a feather in cam reddish's cap. it's a negative. get it? when the game was on the line he wasn't there
and if you think that 1 and 3/4 good games makes up for the **** career he 'had up to that point, it is you who hasn't been paying attention...for over 2 years
yes, cam reddish has so far had a **** career. complaining about the bulls taking coby over cam freaking reddish is beyond ridiculous, particularly given that there were literally DOZENS of players taken in that draft who have had better careers to date than either player. notably the guys taken #8, 11, 12 and 13 (jaxson hayes, cam johnson, pj washington and tyler herro). THOSE are the guys that should have been taken instead of coby white
reddish right back to sucking it up on christmas day, by the way. 4 for 15 for 10 points against the soft-ass knicks perimeter D
Actually yes I watched the game
then how did you miss mays taking over when he subbed in for cramp reddish at the end of the third?
He took 13 shots not 15
he took 15 and was fouled on 2 of them, resulting in 4 free throw attempts. 15 attempts from the field, 18 points. 18/15/2 results in the TS% that you noted
+2.4 BPM
okongwu and mays were both +6.1. dieng was a whopping +26.0
want the season BPMs for the hawks?
5.0 trae
3.1 collins
1.7 capela
1.2 wright
0.7 dieng
0.5 gallo
(1.0) reddish
0 represents borderline starter. (2.0) represents a borderline nba player. reddish has played like a rotation bench player this year. last year he was (3.2) - awful. rookie year he was even worse (4.2)
Reddish hasn’t a huge opportunity in Atlanta
he started most games his rookie year despite not being an nba caliber player. this year he's third on the team in shot attempts. that's plenty opportunity.
there is a reason a lot of teams want him
i'd love to hear what teams are willing to give up for cam reddish...
Never once said he’s been great so far in his career. He struggled badly early in his rookie year but averaged 15 ppg on 62 TS% in 28 mpg in his last 24 games as a rookie before COVID cut it short. He struggled last year with his shot but had problems with the old hawks coach (many hawks players did) and only played in 26 games because of injury. He came back in ECF and played extremely well and is now having his best season …he’s looked a lot better under Nate.
i'll take your word for that
And I never said anything about Coby or who the Bulls should of picked at 7 so……
mixed you up with the other guy that you picked up the argument for. sorry 'bout that

Cavs are also missing their main players. Their top 3 defenders, half the front court, and sexton were out. But yeah raptors team was g league level

Cavs have been lucky to play these games vs depleted teams - our games keep postponing - probably including vs Hawks.

Yup, Cavs (despite being down 3 core players plus Sexton) got to beat up on a TO team missing every single one of its starters and half of its regular bench players. Should have been postponed.

Yea everyone gets to take advantage of severely undermanned teams, but only the hardest road for the Bulls. No gimmes.
But we get to stack all our make-up games towards the end of the season vs those teams when they’re fully healthy. How exciting. Yay.

What is the take on Cleveland's 20-13 record so far? Wizards has slowed down, but Cavs seem to be pretty stable.

Cavs have a really good young team and the future is bright but this run they are on has been under some fairly favourable circumstances vs under 500 teams, disappointing teams compared to last year's record and of course a lot of Covid effected rosters.
I'd be interested to see how they go in the second half of the season if things balance back out a little.

Just noticed that Love and Rubio are reunited in Cleveland. They were the original cornerstone of the post-KG Wolves. I like both players, if they can somehow help Cleveland make the playoff this year, that would be cool to see. Rubio never comes close to reaching his hype/potential, but he's actually a pretty solid player. He could be a bigger star in Europe, go home as Niko did, but he stuck around. I would love to see him succeed in the NBA. KLove is a guy I thought would be a good small ball 5 for this team as Vuc's backup. And that's the role he's playing right now it seems. But his contract is a problem.

The Wizards fall was predictable but when Beal and Dinwiddie play like trash, they fell off harsher than they probably should've. They should trade Beal before the deadline.
I'm buying Cleveland. Allen and Garland should get all-star consideration and Mobley has been great as a rookie. A solid top 5 defense so far and with size, most teams can't effectively deal with. The offense can be an issue when Garland struggles but having a great defense will keep them in games.

I really like Garland as well, before we signed Lonzo, he's one of the PGs on top of my list to add to our core. Thought we had a chance to trade Lauri for him straight up (lol!). Allen is a good player as well. Mobley is going to be great, I think he's going to be what Jaren Jackson Jr. is supposed to be. Btw just checked out their boxscore today, Mr. Denzel Valentine with 17 points 9 rebounds +19 off the bench, in a win over Toronto.

The game against the Bulls got postponed because the Raptors had a crazy outbreak right before the game and didn’t have enough time to get enough guys on the roster. They had more than enough time to sign guys before the Cavs games so they had to play. Sucks for them, but that’s the reality right now.
It’s also why I don’t think our game against the Hawks today will get postponed. Unless they have a couple more guys going into protocols today they have enough players.

I'm happy for CLE. Now, I'd love for them to trade for Simmons and watch them ruin it all with his pouting.
CLE already made a mistake by extending Bickerstaff last week. That happens if they make the playoffs and they play well there.

But he's doing well, no? Despite the easy schedule, seems like the Cavs combo of young players and veterans (Rubio and Love) are gelling fine.

Re: Around The NBA : 21-22 Edition
They key to Cleveland this season, IMO, is Okoro. If he takes a jump (and he was on a nice streak pre-COVID), they could be legitimately very dangerous. They are a very deep team except for at the 3 (where they start Lauri because he's enough of an upgrade over Osman and the rest - Valentine and a recently signed Justin Anderson, and Okoro is playing the 2 for defense and with Sexton out). Love is having a bounce back year, Rubio was a great addition, Lauri gives minutes at the 4 as well, Wade is passable as a bench 4, Windler is a Matt Thomas type, Ed Davis a nice vet presence... and they have a Tacko).
But I do think that they'll fall off a bit from their current pace.

Cavs had one of the hardest schedules so far according to SOS and have the #4 SRS rating in the league. This is with multiple key players missing multiple games. Going forward I think I read they have the 4th easiest schedule. They should be able to keep it up barring major injury. They have legitimately been blowing teams out

I've said it before, the Cavs have a bright future. Garland/Mobley/Allen will be a pain to deal with for the next decade plus. Mobley is going to be a legit problem.

Cleveland also hit the sweet spot with their Covid outbreak. They won 6 in a row, then in one day had a bunch of guys go into the protocols. This was before the league was mandating that teams sign players from the G-League so they had a game canceled plus a light schedule. Now their team is coming back. They are going to be tough all year. I will be very interested to see how the Bulls play them next time - the first game, where we just tried to drive into Mobley and Allen - was not pretty.
