Simmons, Maxey, Thybulle, & 2 FRPs for Lillard or Beal isn't like insulting or laughable or anything.
Philly could make a compelling offer should either player, or another top 20ish player, become available.
They could also accept less than a Lillard or Beal but still get more than they are being offered now. They dont have to get exactly what they want for it to be worth waiting.

I wouldn’t do Simmons for Beal straight up

Watch the Sixers play

They lack size, athleticism, defence, rebounding and playmaking

Beal does nothing to address those issues

He also also an expiring so that’s a ridiculous overpay which guts the team for a potential rental

At least Dame is locked up for a few years so the Sixers have a bit more time to plan a coherent strategy

To put things into perspective, this is what the Sixers would look like after that Beal trade

1 Vacant
2 Beal, Seth, Milton (regressed badly) Joe (Doc doesn’t trust him), Springer (G league)
3 Green (possibly washed), Korkmaz (shows up once every 5 games otherwise unplayable)

None of the above can defend a one-legged chair bar Green

4 Harris (terrible defender and one of the league’s worst contracts), Niang (terrible defender), Reed (see Joe)

5 Joel, Drummond, Bassey (see Joe & Reed)

Play in team with everyone with a pulse under contract due to the pandemic & us having shot our load on a rental

I was thinking Beal would more likely be a potential offseason S&T tbh, since the Wiz are in the playoff hunt.
I agree that wouldn't make much sense midseason especially for a potential rental.

Given the Simmons drama, the fact that we needed to move Tobias yesterday for better fits/more manageable pieces has been lost in the swirl

Tobi is apparently a good teammate but he’s massively overpaid & doesn’t fit with Joel (or Ben for that matter)

I would be very happy if we received Beal back for Simmons. Obviously Washington is not going to want Simmons though.

Beal is not a bad defender under Unseld and with a solid team around him. He's a much better playmaker than you are giving him credit for and he's been back to looking like himself from a scoring standpoint. Over the last 8 games averaging 27.6ppg, 6ast on 54fg. Averaging over 30 in the last 4. Some against elite defenses. Him and Embiid together can compete in the east

Great

The Sixers “can compete”

Sixers were #1 seed last year

Simmons is an average scorer & elite in every other aspect

Beal is an elite scorer and below average to outright bad in every other aspect

Oh & he will cost us our best young players plus future picks

We saw what happened last year when Beal & Westbrook went up against Simmons

They both got smoked

As I said “great”

He's lost 10 million dollars at this point.

Ben probably thinks that’s money well spent to avoid having to face the Philly crowd.

lol

Check out Simmons stats & remember how Joel went in the playoffs the year before without him

Fun fact: Simmons has a better playoff record than Embiid and is 2 years younger

Morey is asking the world for Simmons for a reason

It’s obviously about the Sixers and not the fans as he’s living in Philly, goes to public gyms and has often been seen walking the streets

Would be pleasantly surprised if he even watches their games

I will take Beal over Simmons any day. Philly had a much better team with a much better coach. Stop acting like that was Brad vs Simmons. People act like Beals a career loser but when they had solid teams they literally were 1 or 2 games from the ecf in 3 of 4 years and Brad had some huge playoff games, including scoring 37 against the #1 seeded celtics in a game 7 game of the semis to go to the ecf that they lost in the final minutes. You would have been a #1 seed with Beal last year also. There was no Beal or Simmons a couple of nights ago and Philly won by 20 with Embiid dominating. I guess that proved Simmons was better also

Benny did manage to go 1-1 without Embiid in that series. Kudos to him that is quite impressive.

We really could have used a competitor in that Atlanta series though.

It’s one thing to refuse to shoot. It’s another to refuse to take an open dunk.

I guess the next logical step for him was to just quit.
