Man I played in a church league like that, we about got in an all out brawl with this traveling select team the first freaking game. It was a no ref, no scorers table, call your own fouls, hockey type subs, running clock.

I'm like man, what kinda janky league did you all talk me into lol

The rules are the same for every team. If you have 8 healthy players you play, if you don't you don't. If a team doesn't want to play, all they have to do is stay under 8 available players.

So... don't sign enough hardship guys in time. Or say someone sprained his ankle or has back spasms and you only have 7 available players. Boom, you don't have to play. There are many simple ways for teams to control their own destiny here if they so choose.

And imo it's not some awesome gift to get a game postponed anyway. The game still has to be played and there's no guarantee that a team will want to play it when it's rescheduled any more than they want to play it now. If anything teams are probably thinking they don't want a bunch of extra games in the last couple weeks of the RS when they are trying to be rested and healthy for the playoffs. Not to mention there could very well be a new COVID variant hitting the league at the end of the season.

You shouldn't have to cheat the system for the system to "work" or be "equitable".

Season probably shouldn't be paused but nobody wants to see G-Leaguers and 10-day has-beens in place of current NBA players and especially star players. There has to be a better solution than that.

The season should definitely be paused, but Silver ultimately cares about profit over everything so it won't happen.

These outbreaks are worse than anything that happened in March of last year.

We live with the virus, just like we live with the Flu and the common cold, and have for centuries.

NBA players weren't dying last year either without the vaccine. It would be nice if there was some consistency in how COVID was approached.

It's an insult to make paying fans show up to watch an NBA game with non NBA players.

The ‘21-‘22 season deserves a massive asterisk at this rate. Unless things seriously change with testing and isolation periods it’ll be like this all year.

It’s basically a hybrid of NBA and GLeague. Cancel the season and gear up for next year.

Silver showed his true colours last year when he scheduled the pathetic all star weekend even with teams intentionally playing back to backs against the same teams to prevent the spread.

That’s the thing with lefties. They appear to be liberal and progressive until it’s their check book or reputation on the line.

At this stage every team knows they are supposed to use the hardship rule to ensure they have available players to play. If they don't use that to sign players then they should just forfeit the game.

Contrary to what one of the mod is saying, having some teams manipulate the system (with seemingly less resistance from the league) there is a serious question about competitive balance.

The last time we had a no asterisk season was in 2019. This season may be worse than last season in terms of legitimacy with the way it's going.

What was wrong with last year? Did you want no season at all?

I agree and this is also true for the NFL. Can you imagine if the NFL playoffs start and players like Rodgers, Brady, Mahomes, etc. get hit with a DNP because of exposure? It is a disaster.

Problem is that this pandemic was politicized from the rip, people still draw political lines over masks, so at this point it'd be incredibly politically incorrect for the league to ease up on covid protocols and they're of course not going to do that. And they sure as hell aren't going to deal with all the financial ramifications if they were to try to pause the season without making those games up. Nor should they really, pausing the season when we have no idea where we'll be a month from now would essentially be a reflexive panic move

And I just want to know how the Suns are immune to this lol. They were untouched by covid protocols last season and are again this season. Perhaps there's something to the dry climate theory

Also add Abdel Nader for the Suns.

And "cured" makes them sound like a ham, how about "recovered"?

It might be better to pause games for two weeks and get players to get their boosters, after two weeks the antibody levels will be at their peak and should in theory prevent a lot of breakthrough infections.

If some teams are going to cancel games due to not having enough players while some teams are heavily penalized by running a team mostly of G leaguers it would be fair for all that we pause the season for several weeks.
