Re: Tank World Order (6.0)
I still think once we get Dragic back in the line-up we are going to be ready to roll and compete. A lot of members were really stoked to get him & called him an asset in our S&T for Lowry. I wasn't sure at first, as I thought we might have missed out on MIP candidate Maxey & 1st Rd at last years deadline. I was assured Precious, and spending all our cap space on 35yr PG being paid 19.5m would yield more value in the end. We've got some pretty good minds in this forum so who am I judge? I've been waiting all season, so seeing him practice in Miami the other day was giving me partial wood to help us out in the stretch-run toward the play-in.

Will there be some dissension within the TwO ranks during 2022? The Raptors seem mediocre "to compete" enough to keep TwO members on the same page for the rest of 2021/2022.
But will there be some friction after some more moves and picks are made entering the 2022/2023 season. When will TwO ultimately split into two factions?
Also will Los29 make a stunning heel turn and join TwO in the next few months.
Los is a beast. It wouldn't be a stretch to say he is the defacto leader of team compete, in spite of its borders falling within treadmill nation, whose demain is entirely under my control. I wonder what Pooh Jeter would look like if he could be reformed enough to fully commit to the treadmill world order.

There won't be dissension / splitting - if we start beating top teams at full strength, people will jump off the TWO bandwagon and this thread will be quieter like at the beginning of the season.
I think TWO will only strengthen in numbers as we move forward - not because our full healthy roster is not play-in capable, but because our upcoming schedule is tougher than upto this point (more on the road) and FO will for real start the tank (trading away competing pieces, and start "resting" starters) by the trade deadline (Feb 10, 2022) which is less than 6 weeks away.
TWO only needs to survive the next 6 weeks.

Wonder what our record would be had we had a reasonably healthy lineup? 18-14? 19-13?
Pascal had 25/19/7/2/2 tonight. Wonder if Masai will do what TwO wants and ship him off for some late FRP's. I don't think he will though, Masai is "Team Compete."
we need to get at least 1 real asset back, late frp's aren't it. gotta find some desperate teams like the hawks
Yeah late FRP's are definitely not it. But the point is trading all-star or fringe all-star caliber assets entering their prime never works out. It's a dumb idea and that is why FVV and Pascal are still on this team. You don't build basketball teams by trading away these guys for low level assets.
And that's what I don't get. Why would we tank but not the Hawks? What assets do the Hawks have aside from Trae Young? They are 15-19 with guys like John Collins and Clint Capela as their 2nd and 3rd best players. Should they tank for a running mate as well? They had the 6th pick last year and got Okongwu, got Hunter and Reddish with the 4th and 10th picks two years ago. Why have they had three lottery picks and been unable to get a proper #2 to pair with Trae. Could it be that the draft is for the most part, a crapshoot and finding all-star caliber players isn't actually that easy? The funny part is their 2nd and 3rd best players were drafted outside the lottery.
I'm finding lots of holes with this tanking strategy here.
Im not gonna read this whole thing but who said the hawks shouldnt tank? i said find a desperate team, which could be the hawks. the hawks are probably not thinking tank considering how they played last season.
as for why should we tank? because we are not winning a ring this year. and the teams core players dont fit. they all want to have a big part of the offense. the point most of us here make what would be smarter to do. people see a chance and re tooling the lineup to fit around scottie/og and getting another good pick.

After we draft a second stud in this upcoming draft to add to the core of Scottie and OG I think the movement will be quiet.
All we want are star capable prospects that can one day lead the team to a chip.
We got one in Barnes, will get another in this upcoming draft.
Gg to the league after that. We’re gonna take over.

There might be a couple left that want Emoni or Wembanyama. TWO might come back if we suck next year in that regard.
But I think next year we go full steam on the Scottie train. Unleash him to the league. We might become really good so Emoni or Wembanyama maybe won’t be possible.

I can see no veiled insults in that post. It was quite defamatory towards the tWo, if anything. I'm on thin ice with forum moderators so I should not be treading such a fine line. Perhaps you're trying to twist my words against me, as if you had a CNNesque antitrump agenda towards "Team Compete". Your epidermis, and bias, is showing.

Personally if we fluked into the top 2 and got one of Chet or Jabari...or #4 again and got Ivey or of course found whichever "Booker, Mitchell" like prospect that slipped just outside the top 10 (AJ or maybe by fluke Mathurin, Brown etc) -- I'd be done with tWo until Scottie's run here we're done.
I'm already convinced he'll be a superstar, if we found another star...I actually believe Fred, OG & Siakam could already make for a contender but I'd be confident Masai could find a package combined with Pascal or Fred to get the right 3rd star or long term depth. But another tanked year to me would be overkill imo and tbh as silly as it might sound "winning culture", I do think 3 consecutive years outside the Playoffs would actually effect franchise morale and make it hard for guys to buy in. Even after this season it would be tough but with omicron and the health of Pascal & OG to start, they could still sell they will compete next year but another one and I think frustration would completely boil over. Not to mention I think another year of development of Scottie (in particular) and OG with Fred & Pascal, they'll just be too good for this to be a real possibility and I can definitely see them pushing management this off season to invest in an actual C and some depth.

I don’t like Fred’s style of play. He likes to have the ball in his hands too much, he doesn’t know how to control the flow of the game, his natural limitations won’t translate well in the playoffs (short, no elite physical ability to create separation). If he were like his 2019 self I wouldn’t mind. But I think he’ll view that as a downgrade and an insult after having so much free reign the last two years. I don’t see him being part of this core long term (which is a good thing because I’m sure he has a lot of value around the league, we might be able to get something nice back for him).
Also Fred has a player option which he will most likely opt out of in the 2023-2024 season. Which means we have him for next year for sure and that’s it. What are we going to do? Give him the max or near max that he’ll ask for and probably get from some team out there? Doesn’t seem likely.
Regarding the losing 3 years in a row thing. I don’t believe in all that too much losing will breed more losing stuff. At the end of the day what matters is talent, coaching and management. We have a good coach, a good front office and we’re slowly getting more talent. To me all that winning culture stuff is crap. Talent matters most followed by good coaching. We have most of the formula. Just need high end talent.

Re: Tank World Order (6.0)
Fred is a 2 guard in a point guard body. That's all. Ain't a damn thang wrong with that either because as a shooter, that man is lights out. He is being miscast right now. Not his fault, because the Raptors roster is built the way it is at this point in time, he got the bag and sees himself as 1A/1B in the pecking order. Once that high end talent comes in via the NBA draft, that will/should move the pieces to where they belong.
I love Senior, until he is willing to made adjustments and concede certain duties and his role on the squad, it is going to continue to be unnecessarily painful.
This was basically Jamal Crawford back in the day with the Bulls when he was coming up. Jacking up shats at a high volume because he had the ball in his hands often, yet could not really create and get his mates involved on a consistent basis.
Constant back and forth between Crawford and Head Coach Scott Skiles for a while over his role
Crawford carved out a long career as a sixth man.

Not on the Bulls though. He had to go to the Knicks and lose for a few more years (where he did both start and come of the bench for years) and to then finally get to the Hawks and become a sixth man going forward on winning teams. It took awhile.
Another thing to consider about Fred is he’s going to be 30 years old after next season. Idk if that matters to Masai but it’s worth noting.
