Giannis wants this. He says the right things but you can tell he wants to always be called the best and does stat hunt.

Just be thankful he doesn't play 35+ minutes per game like all the other non-stat padding MVP candidates, because then there would not even need to be a discussion as to who is MVP.

I've got Giannis here, for now.

He came into tonight with a 31.0 PER and the 3rd-best RAPTOR (adjusted plus minus) in the league (behind Jokic and Curry). The only other player in the league who can match his (box score + advanced) stats is Jokic, and Denver is too hurt this year, IMO, to put Jokic into position to repeat as MVP.

Giannis is the defending FMVP and NBA Champion. The Bucks are starting to round into form/get healthy and, IMO, are better than last year.

He's my pick at the moment.

Demar is playing like Rose back in the day. Not the best player but if they have the best record in the East he got a chance.

Will be hard to hold off the Bucks and Giannis tho

I'm a Bulls fan but I don't think he has a real case. His counting stats are still way behind the other major candidates and he has Lavine putting up close to identical stats on his team.

The MVP favorite plays 2mlg more than him. Granted, he has not missed 15-20% of the season like Giannis. This ain’t it.

Those 2 and a bit minutes would probably just widen the margin in their stats comparison in Giannis' favour.

And Steph has gone missing in 15-20% of the games, so it kinda evens out

Agreed, DD's probably not going to get it...but the way he has been playing, it isn't homerism to have his name in the discussion.

And yeah, Zach's stats actually hurt DD. Hard to be MVP when there is a guy on your team putting up damn near identical stats.

Zach and DD take, and make, almost the exact same number of shots per game on almost the exact same percentages.

Player A: 19.3FGA, 9.6FGM, 49.7%FG%, 26.8PPG, 5.0RPG, 4.6APG, 35.2MPG
Player B: 19.2FGA, 9.6FGM, 49.9%FG%, 26.0PPG, 5.1RPG, 4.4APG, 35.0MPG

After today's game, the FT% will get closer. Player A will be at 87.6% while player B will be at 85%...but Player A gets to the line a bit more, and turns it over a bit less.

Not quite over given there is still a lot of the season left but anyone thinking this should be close are clueless about Curry. Any other candidate not setting all-time records doesn't even need to be in the discussion currently.

DD shouldn't be MVP but if they finish 1st in the East by the end of the season, he should be #3 in the MVP ladder.

What funny is that DD & LaVine are going to both finish with better stats and have about the same team win total jump from the previous season as Rose did his MVP year.

Neither Derozan or Lavine should win it unless the wheels fall off in Golden State, but they both deserve to be in the conversation.

All the "experts" predicted the Bulls to win 30ish games and finish 9th in the east. These are 2 guys who have been underrated and underappreciated their whole careers. Several sports writers called the Derozan signing one of the worst of the offseason. Lavine was given all types of terrible labels just because he couldn't carry a team all by himself.

I'm happy somebody is finally putting respect on their names.

bulls fans should be really happy. they probably don't have strong MVP cases but having 2 All-NBA wings is damn great. primed for a good playoff run too, health granted. team chemistry is great, the defense looks good. if only the PAW were healthy. I feel like he's the missing roleplayer piece.

Yeah a nearly completely new cast from his first 60+ win team again full of no names except second oldest player in the league Iguodala. I guess the lesson here is to not team up with perennial All-NBA and All-Star players but play with G-Leaguers and players known for albatross contracts instead.
