I feel like headcoachs always say this but then end up sitting their stars.

It makes no sense to play them, if someone important got hurt playing in a meaningless game MLF would never hear the end of it. One half of football is not going to affect how they play in their playoff game 2 weeks later.

Glad to hear they're planning to play the starters for a half. I agree that 3 weeks is too long and can disrupt rhythm. Two weeks is just right for healing ordinary aches and pains without too much rust. It could also give guys like Cobb and maybe Jaire/Bakh a chance to get their feet wet again. I think Rodgers's toe is going to hurt every time it gets stubbed or stepped on anyway, regardless of whether he takes the extra week off. He took 3 weeks off in 2011 and got beat at home by the Giants despite being 15-1 that year. Rodgers had arguably the worst postseason of his career - he's had worse games, but never a worse overall postseason passer rating. Fittingly enough, it was the Lions game he skipped that year and Matt Flynn went nuclear on them.

Not sure if there’s a right answer to playing those guys or not. Probably the only right answer is to win the SB…

I don’t think that 2011 playoff game was on Rodgers, it was on all our fumbles after a season not turning it over, allowing a Hail Mary TD just before halftime, and a pretty good Giants team that won the SB. It was also a weird bye week; you have to think Joe Philbins son dying made it very tough to focus and prep and play. Losing that game wasn’t the first thing on their minds that month.

I'm nervous with any opponent. Though thinking about it, I wouldn't be nervous playing the Vikings again.

Number one seed is key because the chance of the Packers going into to Tampa and winning were pretty low IMO. Havent lost at home this year with mostly warm weather teams left. Gotta feel as good as ever about the chance of making it to the super bowl.

Hopefully that run D last night is a sign that unit is improving, although they were able to stack against the run due to Sean Mannion, no Thielen, etc.

Yep, this is the year to get it done. Tampa is down Godwin and now AB (and Evans and Fournette are both coming back off injury), and our secondary is as good as it ever will be, even moreso should Jaire return. Rodgers is playing at a ridiculous level, we have a legit two-headed monster at RB, and we have homefield throughout. I mean, it's just **** time to get it done.

I can't see any way Rodgers plays next week unless his toe isn't actually bothering him that much which certainly doesn't appear to be the case.

I don't know what the difference is between last year and this year about this issue.
What the team was like last year, it's the opposite this year in red zone

That's my only concern for the rest of the season

I've pondered this a lot throughout the year, and I think the big differences are;
1. We are down 3 starting OL from last year, which we have coped with, but I think it manifest at times with the ability to rush in the redzone
2. Big Bobby Tonyan was a major redzone threat and has been hurt/invisible when he played earlier this season.

I suspect if we had all those guys, you'd see similar redzone production. We had 16 rushing TDs last season and 15 TDs to the TE last season. This year we have 12 rushing TDs and 3 TDs to the TE. (in total, not just redzone, but I think it still makes the point)

I bought the "social justice" knit hat that some of the players (and fans) were wearing last night. I will proudly wear it on the one day a year a knit cap is a good idea where I live.

Functionally, it's 4 OL starters, if you count Linsley (comparing to last year). Of course, you need to factor in that Bak and Jenkins are all-pro level. It's pretty amazing the level of production from guys who were anticipated to be secondary, or even lower level reserves. Kudos to them and to the coaches for making the "next man up" actually succeed at a high level.

But, to your OL point, the current guys have over-achieved, but they're not Bakhtiari, Jenkins, or even Turner. Myers looked good, and having him available allows Patrick to fill in elsewhere too.

Those are definitely 2 reasons why the RZ offense hasn't been as good. Another one that doesn't really get mentioned is that it's simply regressing to the mean. It was never gonna be as good as last years and then when you add in the injuries it's not really shocking

AJ Dillon with home field advantage in Green Bay may very well be a piece that puts us over the top.

Part of me wonders whether it's better to have Bahk basically one week action or Yosh, who's been playing well... God, the fully healthy offensive line is unreal. Bahk, Jenkins, Myers, Newman/runyan/Patrick, Turner.

Don’t leave off Yosh. I think he’s the future at LT.
