They need a serious upgrade at the QB position. Don't be surprised to see a serious run at the guy in Houston.

I thought a rumor came out that he wasn't interested to play for the WFT/WTF..TGW wrote:They need a serious upgrade at the QB position. Don't be surprised to see a serious run at the guy in Houston.

With all of the club’s sexual misconduct history leaking out, there is no way they go after Watson. No chance.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

If it were accompanied with Dan leaving it'd be a really exciting time. Still hyped though.

If the name rumors are true, I'm not hyped at all...

I’m with you. There’s not a single name on the list that I like.

Redhogs seems like such a layup. Awesome graphic logo, aggressive football name, history with the last winning team from the franchise...but the stars on the shoulder pads really make me think it'll be military/government focused.

Yep. I could live with the Redhogs as it would be shortened to ‘hogs. Watching the hogs today?
But yep, those stars suggest something militaristic which, frankly, is a mischaracterization of our town.
Armada? Bleach. Commanders? No thanks.
All very Arena League to me. Of course for a second rate, minor league owner and person like Snyder, maybe that’s perfect.

I still think this is the way they will go.
I also think it will be universally booed. And it is hilarious that the nickname will surely be the Commies.
Go Commando. The Washington Commedians. The Oxford Commas. Hail to the Commies. It'll be great.

You're probably right - and I think they've said the name won't include the word Red in it. Can you imagine - after all this waiting for a new name, we're going to be called the Commies? If we aren't already a laughingstock of pro sports, we will be. Just another day in the life of being a Skins fan.
Even if it isn't the Commanders, it'll be something so anti-climactic that nobody's going to like it.
Ted's probably ready to sue if they choose Monuments, because it sounds too much like Monumental.

100% chance Ted has already trademarked that name. For a while there it looked like the Wiz were thinking about rebranding the team, but I expect they heard enough backlash over the last change and noise that if they wanted to change it they should reclaim the Bullets. Still they have Monument icons in many of their logos. And not a Wizard in the bunch aside from the name.

Re: The Washington Football Team Thread
I still think they should've changed the name to the Rednecks, with a mullet wearing dude in a mesh cap instead of the noble savage. Whole different kind of native american. Then we could be equal opportunity offensive. Team names and mascots are supposed to be intimidating or tough. Ain't a lot more dangerous in america then a riled up redneck. Pretty sure you could sell a ton of merchandise.
But I guess the last 5 years make that not so funny.

And if not Commanders, I can see them going with Ambassadors, so then the nickname would be... Ass's. So they'll choose between the Commies and the Ass's.
Since you mentioned the name should be intimidating, my next door neighbor has 2 Rottweilers that used to scare the bleep out of me (now, they're very friendly cute monsters), the Washington Rottweilers has a ring to it. So, the nickname would be the Rot... hmm

Groundhogs is actually a name that people might like. Of course, when we lose, people will say it feels like Groundhog Day. Still, it's got hogs, and Ground is for their ground game. But there's probably legal problems getting a copywrite... not to mention the groundhog community.

Re: The Washington Football Team Thread
So, it looks like the Bleeps are picking 11th. Any thoughts on who we should pick?
I'm no expert, but seems like picking a QB would be anything but a value pick. There's only 2 who appear to be 1st round worthy - Pickett and Willis - and they'll be gone by 11. How about CB Derek Stingley? He sounds like a top 5 talent who could slip because of his lack of experience. Is there a 43 LBer who's worthy at 11 - maybe Damone Clark?

Ok it looks like it maybe ...
The Washington Warthogs !
Lol guess we will know on Groundhogs day.
I hope we aren’t going to be The Woodchucks...
Last cut & paste song I promise
Hail to the Warthogs
Hail to the Warthogs
Hail victory
Hogs on the gridiron
Fight for old DC
Blitz’em, block’em, bomb’em
Hear the planes roar
Sack’em, rock’em, sock’em
Fine Swine score more
Fly on, fly on
Till we have won
Sons of Washington
*Brratt-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat!!
Hail to the Warthogs
Hail victory
Soar cross that goal line
Win for old DC!
* “The A-10 Warthog is a close air support plane famous for its seven-barrel 30 mm gun and the "BRRRT" noise it makes.” I’ve never heard one so I’m just assuming this is true.

My extremely socially conscious daughter chastised me for using the term redneck
which I used to use a lot to describe....well those kind of people, because I didn't know any better.
I wish I knew another term that worked as well.
Here's a little history about 'rednecks'.
