At least when he plays he plays up to his contract but they’ve got to get these injuries under control. Thankfully they’re just 1 week here and there and nothing serious.

I’d rather he get hurt now than instead of in the playoffs. Butler hurt for a week in the playoffs means we need to rely on Lowry, which sounds crazy when one thinks about it.

What? I post this info when I see it posted on twitter, I did it earlier in the year but to address your statement for me just posting that tweet, LAST SEASON and this offseason I was saying to let Robinson walk in the offseason and replace him with Strus and hopefully use that money to sign other players for positions of need... namely PF until Bam is moved to PF.

I think Miami can find/develop players to work well on the roster so I'm all for packaging players to try to get high level players.

On Guy, I wouldn't mind him on the roster but he's not as good as Herro. Adding more players that could contribute does allow the FO to make more moves in the future. I wouldn't be mad to see Martin converted to a vet min with Guy added as a 2-way player.

Players like Strus and Guy are the reason I don't think teams should be overpaying for players who can only shoot, you can find those players for cheap.

Not even you could have predicted Struss & Guy would have been this good. No one knew who Guy was. And Struss are unproven commodity. It's hard to get to 40 % shooters. Heat have somehow gotten the knack at identifying these guys but for most of the league its hard to get them. That's why you see guys like Harris & Duncan getting paid. And I don't think his contract is an issue if he shoots like he did in previous season. If he does then he's an asset that can moved. I think that was the thinking. I don't think they were planning to keep Duncan, Herro and possibly Oladipo long term. One of them was going to be moved and it was going to be Duncan. Unfortunately Duncan has sucked so his contract is a negative and they're kinda stuck with him unless they attach a pick or Herro.

Herro wants to be a starter but when he starts he’s an inefficient chucker. He’s a net negative player whether he starts or not but at least off the bench he’s putting up efficient numbers. I really wonder what this team is going to do.

1. Stand still and ride it out with this group.

2. Trade Duncan and picks for an upgrade to the rotation

3. Trade Duncan, Herro, and picks for a star and go all in to win the championship while the league is wide open.

2) Duncan is still not seen as a positive asset, so one would need the pick just to trade him.

3) Once its understood that this version of Duncan is not a positive asset its hard to even consider he would be part of a trade for a star. What star would even be hypothetically available where we wouldn’t get out bid? Maybe a John Wall trade but then the question would be why?

Heat have some real NBA teams to play now and the injury to Butler again is bad timing. Heat were lucky to play non NBA level teams. **** is about to get real. Reality can be a bia bia.

I think they'll be alright but I can see them falling to 6th seed. They'll just do what they were doing prior, shoot a bunch of 3s. In the games our shooters are hot we win and those are not, we loose. In the regular season this should be enough to get them through,

Just try not to lose him or half him develop bad habits
Herro is not the first choice, but doesn't have to be ...this is a team sport and one man has never done the trick, NEVER

Butler's unreliability is starting to worry me. Luckily we have 2 time lines to a championship, Jimmy's fast closing window and Bam's.
I think we need to start looking at Bam's window. Not saying we make any big move right now, but Jimmy is starting to prove unreliable. We need to at least have our gameplan ready. Tyler needs to be part of that plan. He has shown in flashes what he is capable of. Now he just needs to be able to do it on a more consistent basis.

They need to do something for him going forward though, wear higher top shoes, tape his ankles better or something. It’s also time for them to tell Bam to take the next step when he gets back. We want 25-12 a game from Bam and he’s more than capable. It’s time for Bam to become neck and neck with Jimmy as a player.

You might recall my unpopular proposal to trade Butler for assets in the off-season. This money was what was on the other side of the scale. Even so, I'm happy to admit I was wrong and the Heat FO was correct. Lowry-Butler-Bam with rising stars like Herro and the others might still be enough. The Heat are a solid team. They aren't the Warriors, but we gave them a run for their money without much of our roster.

I don't know about one week. He needs to be a 100 % before returns. He returned early with the butt injury and it didn't work out well. You can play with butt injuries but not ankle ones. The concern is this wasn't a contact injury so there might some instability with that ankle. Lawd forbids he he does more damage. No need to be a warrior when it comes to injuries in the regular season

I guess it remains to be seen, I don’t think the contact or not matters at all. You’ll either roll it stepping on someone’s foot or coming down from jumping like he did. Non contact knee injuries are the ones to be worried about

It's not how good they are, it's that they are 3pt shooters that have different good qualities. Miami has went with a starter whose ONLY NBA average or better skill was 3pt shooters so to me it seems like a role you can go cheap on.

On Guy, I hadn't really watched him till coming to Miami, just the way he moves with the ball and shoots I'm good with keeping a player like that on the roster. Strus is a a little different, I liked his quick release and no change in confidence with him making or missing shots, someone like that can be plugged in for 3pt shooting. No he didn't have

Strus although people will really push Herro because he's scoring more.

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

Some will say Herro scoring, I think Strus being a better scorer then expected.

You know, after the first game Strus played where people were laughing at him and saying he doesn't look like a basketball player I was posting..

Wouldn't mind seeing Strus stick around and work on making him into a catch and shoot guy off the bench in down the road. He was putting up 18 pts, 6 reb, 2 asts in the D-League last year before his injury. He's not ready now of course but I think something is there where he could become a decent role player coming off the bench for 3pt shooting. At this point he's not someone I think would be a regular rotation guy.

I would absolutely love to see Strus getting 2-4 weeks in the starting lineup in replacement of Robinson. As for someone not on the team and cheap, I'd be interested in someone like Reggie Bullock who's paid 4.2 mil this year in Robinson's position if it means saving 10+ million a year for the next 3 years letting Miami use the money elsewhere.

I'm not going to argue that these other players will shoot as well, be as efficient as Robinson or can hit those DHOs as well, what I will argue is that they will be a much better value and there won't be that much if any of a drop off with the team. Also remember, Duncan is getting plays ran for him, a lot of other 3pt shooters are just going to spots and being used for spacing. Runs some plays for them and you may see them being even more efficient. Miami is just different with their 2 top players wanting to distribute the ball vs score themselves.

Miami's scouting team is quite good, I think they missed with KZ but they seem to find good players. Just in the last few years Miami's come up with Robinson, Nunn, Strus, Vincent, Yurtseven, C.Martin and maybe Guy for basically NOTHING. Just knowing Miami seems to be able to find players who can contribute should have this whole fanbase being good with packaging multiple non top tier talent and draft picks to acquire top tier talent which is why I was good with acquiring Harden for most of the players on the team(or trading them for draft picks to trade to Houston).

Thing is all you need is just one of these short-term injuries and bad timing for it to ruin a season. It's not really talked about much but even though he played vs Milwaukee, I'm certain he was injured last playoffs (missed the last 2 reg season games including an all-important seeding game with playoff HCA at stake) and, well, we saw the result

Whatever we have left on Guy is going to be fun to watch unfold. He was sold out on defense too.....he did his darndest to be a pest.

Speaking of a defensive Pest...... Dude did we strike gold with Martin. Dude is 100% effort all the time. Such a likable player... need to wrap him up long term. He got the call on Steph and never backed down. That game could have been over at half-time with Duncan and Herro on the floor at the same time.

I hated the idea of trading for Harden, but that is a hell of a point...

If Miami can just farm up a bench from thin air, the idea of loosing Duncan, Herro and a slew of firsts seems comical with the Current versions of Gabe,Strus,Martin and hell even Guy is looking legit.
