Casuals. Raptors literally have only one more loss than the 5th seed 76ers.
And have A LOT of tough games coming up if you bothered to look ahead on the schedule.

Raptors have had a bunch of easy wins with other teams missing guys because of covid or GS resting Curry/Green. Even tonight Spurs missing there best player. The reality will sink in the next few weeks when they have to play some real competition.

Raptors had there covid games delayed, and only really one game against the Cavs where they were missing there guys.

Guess Lebron won’t be there since he’s led his team to the same record as Toronto this season?

So many infantile responses in this thread.

I doubt Fred makes it simply because the East is so guard heavy this year. Trae, Demar, Lavine, Beal and Harden are all going to be in front of him and then there’s a bunch of guys having just as good a year as Van Vleet vying for the last spot. Hope he makes it but don’t think it will happen.

I think FVV is more deserving than Beal this year. Beal's play have taken a big hit vs last year.

lol theres some Raptors fans who wouldn't trade FVV for Simmons. As many issues as Simmons has, hes a better player than FVV.

If you can't play Simmons in the playoff, especially in the 4th Q ..because he can't shoot and is not willing to shoot..why would Raptors trade him for FVV . FVV has been amazing for Raptors last 4 years .. the guy plays hard at both ends and not scared to shoot.

Lmaooo what do their future games have to do with their current record???? You claim they are "WAY too bad", even though they're a .500 team despite being one of the most injury depleted teams in the league this season.

And they gave up easy losses when they played with a roster full of 10-day G-League players. It cancels out. Not to mention Siakam and OG missed a substantial amount of games this season. They were missing nearly their entire roster against the Sixers too and still had a chance to win that game.

Zach Lowe says he has him locked in on this 12 man roster for the East. We'll see.

Fred simply isn't the guy who strikes me as All Star material. Stop trying to get guys into the big boy game who aren't stars. Whose spot is he taking? Tatum, Brown, Beal? C'mon man those guys are actual big name stars.

Raptors need to climb a bit in the standings for this to actually happen. What other raptor fans seem to be missing is that players who make the playoffs on bad teams usually put up outstanding numbers like Towns/Trae/Beal. Fred isn't at that level.

Yup, I think so. I’ll point out something even more amazing to me too:

Out of everyone eligible for the 2016 Draft, the in drafted FVV is playing the best right now. Crazy.

I think he should be the all-star starter. He might be better on defense than offense.

FVV is a better, more complete player than Simmons.

So I guess no Celtics either then, since they are under .500? No Trae or Towns either? I mean, if under .500 teams shouldn't have any all-stars because they are WAY too bad.

Like it or not, FVV doesn't have the popularity with fans or media that Trae does.

There are at max 6 guard spots in the East. Two selected by fans + media + players, which it is almost for sure FVV isn't nabbing either of those.

That leaves 4 spots maximum for guards, more than likely only 3 spots though... Not counting injury/covid alternates.

-LaVine and DeRozan are listed as guards on the #1 seed.
-Harden having a down year but guard on the #2 seed.
-Jrue is a guard on the #3 seed.
-potentially James Butler on the #4 seed.
-Garland on the #5 seed.
-Beal with a down year on the #7 seed.
-LaMelo on the #8 seed.

Yeah, like I said, FVV not getting in... East is too guard heavy lol

I’ve been very hard on Fred on the Raptors board cause he dribbles the ball too much (but he’s been doing better with that in the past several games)

He’s definitely deserving of All Star recognition.

21-5-7 with 1.6 steals and shooting 40% from deep in crazy high volume (6th in Attempts per game, the first 5 are all shooting lower percentages)

He’s been elite offensively and defensively this season. In terms of several advanced stats, he’s been one of the best players in the entire league

He should be an All Star and I’m confident coaches will reward him

As usual “not even close” when in reality it’s very close.

He's been better than Ball, Beal, and Garland. Plus I believe DeRozan is playing SF.

Here are the east's best by PER, 30mpg:
1 Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL
2 Joel Embiid, PHI
3 Jimmy Butler, MIA
4 Trae Young, ATL
5 Kevin Durant, BKN
6 Jarrett Allen, CLE
7 DeMar DeRozan, CHI
8 Domantas Sabonis, IND
9 Zach LaVine, CHI
10 Clint Capela, ATL
11 Daniel Gafford, WSH
12 James Harden, BKN
13 John Collins, ATL
14 LaMelo Ball, CHA
15 Jrue Holiday, MIL
16 Bam Adebayo, MIA
17 Fred VanVleet, TOR

I know PER isn't the end all be all stat but there are a lot of very productive players on playoff level teams. FVV would have to jump over several in order to get on the roster.
