Her getting passed up for NBA head coaching gigs & the subsequent backlash was starting to get annoying.

The Billups thing was ridiculous this past offseason.

Billups certainly wouldn’t be the first person to get a family, friend or acquaintance hired to a position. Especially regarding the nba.

I mean seriously?

And yes you can be largely a good person who does a bad thing. Describes most all of us, no? So him having a good reputation doesn't mean he's innocent.

But no, somehow you've conclude it was Becky Hammon's fault despite her having zero involvement in the act or in the reporting surrounding his hiring.

Some of you will do anything to blame a woman for a man's actions.

That's just 1 piece of the puzzle, as I said he was not charged with anything and a private investigation was done. Without actually having witnessed what happened, nobody can definitively state what happened. There's a reason we have a legal system. If you want an example of bad behavior, then look no further than Jason Kidd who was *actually arrested* for domestic violence.

And it's not Becky Hammon's fault necessarily, it's the media's fault for trying to character assassinate another candidate trying to get the job she was interviewing for. Just like it's not the fault of non-white coaching candidates around the league that Chris Finch got unfairly criticized when he got hired.

All the best to her! This seems like a good proving ground for her as a head coach. Hopefully it goes well.

He played college and pro ball over seas
He's been coaching college since 2012

What exactly were Becky Hammons coaching credentials before she was handed an NBA assistant job?

Becky Hammon is an all time great, multiple Olympian in the sport for one.

Rodney Billups led the university of Denver to a 2-19 record last year and got hired because his brother is the head coach

Interesting move, a little bit risky IMO. She might get stuck coaching in the WNBA. Still being a head coach and GM is pretty great opportunity.

Guy, she was PLAYING. She tore an ACL in a game playing for the Stars, had to rehab for a year, and she started working with the Spurs during her rehab. The Spurs and the Stars had the same ownership and they shared some facilities. Instead of trying a comeback as a player at age 37 she announced her retirement, and then she was immediately hired by the Spurs as an assistant.

You do understand it’s foolish to demand a person has to get coaching credentials while they’re an active player. That’s a lot to expect, y’know.

But if you want to formalize it as a credential, how about a full season, 2013-14, of internship under Coach Pop, leading up to that first hire? Suitable?

And as to Coach Pop “handing” something to somebody, that notion is so different from reality it sounds demented. No sir, Coach Pop does not just hand things to people.

In hindsight, the POR job is a terrible one. The roster sucks with no young talent, and Lillard might have one foot out of the door. That would be a terrible situation to put the first female coach in. Because soon she would have to shoulder some of the blame, and in today's cancel culture, any criticism of Becky's performance will be deemed sexist and misogynist.

You're not wrong in what you said, but this will happen regardless.

Please research a concept called "Overton's Window", which the left has been using for the past 60+ years now.

There’s not really a non-sexist way to interpret that.

Let me take care of this part for you: “you can’t say anything these days, cancel culture, woke mob, sjws, blah blah blah”

Let’s swap out just one word and see if that’s better: “Look I’m not sexist, but I ain’t trying to see blacks coaching in the NBA.” See how that looks?

You claim he says people should be excluded based on their sex. He never said that. He said he doesn't want to see it. Whether or not that's sexists is a different discussion, but at least paraphrase him accurately.

Edit: But lets entertain the sexism claim. If a woman says that she doesn't want to see a man on the View, is that necessarily sexist?
a man as the producer/director of The View (with an all-female cast) might've been a closer analogy
