175% of his current salary = $7,608,300
The average salary in 2020-21 was $7.5 million. We don't have the final figures for the current season.

Long story short, let's say we can offer Bobby up to ~$7.6 million in year one.

We have full Bird rights on Donte and Pat (if he opts out). We can offer them whatever we want up to their maximum salary.

Needless to say, we'll have zero cap space. If projections hold, the taxpayer MLE will start at $6,149,000 in year one. The bi-annual will start at $3,951,000 in year 1.

Don't have the source on me RN but the average salary is a lot higher. Last time I checked it will be between 10-11m. Also can't offer a 1y deal with early bird rights, has to be at least 2 (without options I think, not sure).

This says $8.25MM for this season. Seems reputable enough.

The $8.25 million figure was a projection.

I got the 2020-21 figure from basketballreference. We don't have the final figure for this season yet. Per basketballreference, the average salary thus far is $6,430,958. It might fluctuate a bit till the end of the season.

Anyway, it's no big difference. Let's just say we can offer him around 7.6 million to 8.25 million in year 1.

The league clearly calculates the figure very differently than whatever basketball-reference and runrepeat are doing. It was over 10 million last year, and it won't be a smaller number this year. LuessiT's 10-11 million number seems like a good estimate for the year 1 number. The contract can be a 2-4 year contract (must be at least 2, not counting options; up to 4, counting options) with up to 8% annual raises.

For the purposes of salary stuff, "average salary" is not literally average salary of guys on rosters at any given point. It's the total player salaries paid divided by 396.

Just eyeballing the b-r table they're probably deriving their average from, looks like it's being dragged down by emergency 10 days. League accounts for stuff like that by fixing the denominator (representing players) at the negotiated number of 396, or 13.2 per team. In reality some teams have already had 20+ guys not including 2 ways.

Roster flexibility is fine but we're now back to having no real healthy centre on the roster and we still have Semi and Thanasis on the roster.

Maybe we got good news for Brook Lopez?

Seems like a nonsense move. Who do they have their eyes on? Could they sign Cousins for rest of season? Wasnt he only available from hardship? I cant remember. this seems awfully dumb unless Demarcus wanted out

I believe Friday was the deadline to decide whether they wanted to guarantee his contract for the rest of the season. I'm a little surprised but they did kind of have to make a decision.

Big trade has to be coming to bring in KAT for Donte. I didn't check to see if the numbers work but my sources (Dude, Trust Me) has never let me down.

Seems like an awful move since we have awful options down low without Brook, and even when hes back he likely wont be any more mobile than he usually is. This made us worse, prove me wrong Horst
