I think thats where we disagree. Every team has had a superstar talent that won a championship, unless Barnes turns into that I doubt this current roster can win it all. Who is the last champion to win without a superstar? Detroit in 2004?

Plus what are you giving up to get Booker? I think the price would be high, pretty sure they would be demanding Barnes in return which would be pointless. Ben Simmons is the only all star available that might be kinda cheap, Morey still wants the world for him.

Imagine a zach lavine/booker/beal/pg13 type on the 2020 Raptors? Thats not a contender?

We arent most teams. Weve proven that we can be a very very very good team without a true #1/closer. U add that guy to a great nucleus without giving too much up(or at least replenishing parts of whats given up) and we r at the very least in the discussion. From there u build further. It still doesn't have to be a kawhi type fleecing lol

What are you trading to get those guys? Siakam? Barnes? OG? FVV? Sure thats a contender, but how do you get any of those without giving up part of the nucleus? Scottie Barnes was a "free" addition to the team, there was nothing to give up but a few wins.

The Raptors without a true closer were the team from 2014 to 2018, Masai ripped that team apart and got Kawhi/Gasol/Ibaka.

Lavine, Booker and PG went in the 10-13 range, so I think the argument is that we could move up from say 16-18 in the draft and Masi could find a guy like that by just giving up a lotto protected first or maybe even less, or just get a guy at that range. Someone like TyTy Washington (slightly better numbers compared to Maxey and Booker there under the same coach) or Jalen Hardy or one of the other G-League guys or Keels for example all look like they have potential and could be there. Just a (obviously difficult) matter of picking which one.

Idc much about our record but I can’t help but feel like the past few games have been subpar for Scotties development. He’s a Kawhi/Giannis type prospect but being used as the washed versions of Gasol/Draymond

6 shots (technically 4 since the last 2 were forced heaves at the end of the shot clock) is disappointing. He didn’t play a good game, but a big part of that is because of how many times he gets ignored. It’s difficult to be engaged and in rhythm when you’re not getting the ball where you’re most effective

Seems this is gonna be the new norm for him with the rest of the lineup being healthy. Shame

I’m not too invested in the tank since I don’t see us getting into the top 10 and I feel Masai can get us a good player anywhere in the teens anyways. Win or lose, idc too much. All I’m invested in is the development of Scottie, win or lose

Noticed this as well. Scottie definitely getting the Gasol/Draymond role. FVV admits there are too many mouths to feed in the starting lineup with everyone healthy and someone needs to sacrifice.

But I have faith. Masai is watching and he won't let this superstar prospect keep sacrificing, and slowing down his development.

I sure hope so. Idek what the move is, but I hope something does happen

Pascal has been tremendous recently so it would be hard to see him leave, but at the same time his value is being built up to an All NBA level talent again so we could probably get a very nice return

The only real way to get Scottie back into a significant offensive role again is if either OG or Pascal aren’t in the lineup. As you said, there are too many mouths to feed. And the rookie will unfortunately always be the guy pushed down the pecking order, regardless of how talented he is

The idea of the OG-Scottie-Pascal front court sounds great but when you see how it actually plays out, there’s a lot of redundancy. Scottie has nice chemistry with the team since so it doesn’t harm the team’s ability to perform, but that’s largely due to the fact that Scottie can fit with anyone imo

I’d much rather shuffle the roster and get a real Center on the team and allow Scottie to operate and develop in a more ideal position for him

Very unlikely. Our whole team has gone through it except for Boucher. At some point he will get it and maybe the coaching staff. I'm not worried about health and safety protocol moving forward. Injuries are another story. But if you're wishing injury on any player so that the raptors lose games then you are pretty **** up in the head
