If Raps play Bucks, Nets or Bulls you're looking at a relatively easy sweep if those teams are engaged. If they're not you're looking at a gentleman's sweep where those teams never had to go all out.

Would like to mention that Kyrie Irving does not play a single game in a Raptors vs Nets series.
Would like to mention, that wouldn't make a difference to the outcome if KD is playing

I would think that posters, in a season that has seen Cleveland looking like a solid playoff team and Chicago holding the top spot in the East, would recognize the folly of calling a team like the Celtics a "treadmill" team just because they are struggling today.dkb965 wrote:Floody100 wrote:kieferli wrote:
Still better than your team
Last time I checked we’ve beaten you twice this season ..
Celtics fans are convinced that their team is a contender even though they have played .500 ball for a season and a half, so it makes sense that they beat the Raptors this season right. They are by far the most delusion on RealGM. They refuse to face the reality that the Celtics are nothing special and a treadmill team going nowhere.
Likewise it is folly to anoint a championship team a contender because of past success.
Team fortunes can change markedly in a season or two. We are here to discuss the NBA, but name calling does nothing to advance the discussion or explain a point of view.

You know GTJ is leading the league in steals right? You're looking dumb either way. FVV and Trent have been fantastic defensively.

Oh boy...
GTJ also has a -1.9 DRAPTOR which is near the bottom of the league.
He's in the bottom half of the league (45th percentile) in isolation defense.
He's in the bottom 4% of the league in spot up defense.
He's in the bottom 10% of the league in handoff defense.
He's in the bottom 8% of the league in post defense.
This is the first year in his career that he's posted a positive DBPM (0.4) and it still barley ranks in the top half of the league.
But heck yeah man, go off.

Lmao seriously DRAPTOR rating? You know the stat is insanely biased towards bigs, right? Dudes like Blake Griffin are top 10 right now. All defensive stats are going to be affected by big men, and the Raptors don't have big men to defend the paint. But yeah dude, tell us more about how you don't actually watch games.

Don't need to watch games when the stats and facts literally do not support your claim lolrealball wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:realball wrote:

I mean, I think we’re a playoff team but a DEEP playoff run as you so eloquently stated is a reach. We’re not beating Nets, Bucks, Bulls or Heat in a playoff series, and so I’m not sure where you think 2nd round is a lock. It’s highly unlikely at this point.
And to me deep playoff run is 3rd round… so we’d have to beat 2 of the aforementioned teams above. Not happening this year.
I do like how we’re playing with all of our starters though, talented young team with a very bright future.

I am not even sure if Raptors are a playoff team. They are now at full strength and winning matches lately but their opponents were not at full strength. So this winning streak might be a mirage.

Do you think Blake griffin is the 3rd best defender in the league? Because that's what Draptor says

I do not utilize DRAPTOR by itself. I feel the Blake Griffin example is rather weak anyway. Blake only had 1 season where he was an absolutely atrocious defender in his career.
When I look at what he is asked to do in his limited role it is not at all a shocker to me he is being graded out as a plus defender in advanced metrics, plural.
No eye test is quantifiable, therefore it is nothing more than 2 people arguing their amateur opinions of breaking down film, absolutely pointless.

Teams like the Kings have played 40 games. The Raptors have only played 35 games. Time will tell if they even make the play-in let alone survive the play-in tournament.
The Greatest of All Time debate in basketball is essentially who has the greatest basketball resume of the player who has the best highlights instead of who is the best player
