Smith is too slow at 4, too small at 5.

Not sure how I feel about this. Seems we have too many Cs....I hope they aren't thinking of doing anything dumb because Sarver is cheap and trading our good C for some picks.

They wouldn't be dumb enough to trade Ayton for Jermai Grant and a 1st would they?

I wanna see some Biyombo + Jalen Smith at the 4 line-ups. If he's hitting that 3, this is a deadly counter to some of these ridiculous small-ball teams. Lob threats + dominant boarding.

Ayton + Smith would also be twin-towerish, with Smith still in the corner for spacing purposes. But that help defense from both your 4/5 has some nasty potential.

This is good. We can play less tentative defense on guys like Towns, Giannis, etc, because we have plenty of fouls, and of course be ok if we have injury issues. We could go big if needed as long as it's not McGee and Biyombo together because Ayton can guard guys really well on the perimeter and Jalen pretty well. Plus they both have range to not crowd the middle on offense. Not that I want Ayton shooting 3s but he has enough range to bring defenders away from the basket. This only against bigger lineups like the Bucks did to us and maybe the Lakers or maybe rebounding against the Warriors. Neither of their bigs have much range normally I don't think.

Yup me too.

Always had Biyombo backing up Suns center. In NBA 2K20 for example, Biyombo is backing up Ayton along with my F/C created player who is 90 rating from 3pt lol

I'm fine with this move. Fully understand he'll be the 3rd string C for us but to me he's a bit too similar to the two guys in front of him in the sense that they are long C's but none of them have any range. It's good for continuity but I almost prefer Smith in there because he can at least hit the 3 on occasions.

Again, I'm fine with signing him but I was sort of hoping we'd save this roster spot for a higher end upgrade should that come up around trade deadline

This is a solid move to secure the post presence we've needed for a while. I wouldn't be mad to see him start at the four, but I know that's not happening.

We have some fat to trim still to get down to 14.

Smart move. If Jones has been wanting him since August, it seems like a no brainer after the job he has done with us.

Great pickup by Jones. You'd think Biyombo didn't do much the other night but his 3 blocks helped save 6 points. Predicting 6/5/2 blks for him on the season.

Beastmack is always a fan fav and always a high energy guy. He'll block shots in spectacular fashion and have game where he's rebounding like a star and just looks really goood.

Then he'll have 2 weeks worth of games where you don't understand how he gets minutes.

And in big games.... teams leave him completely unguarded and double whoever the biggest threat is.

As a Raps fan, I love the guy (got to know him a bit) and love that he sat Courtside as a fan during our championship season.... but at this stage .... ya ... he should never get 1 minute ahead of your other Cs when healthy.... and in the playoffs he should only play in garbage time.

Yeah, that makes sense given the way he's bounced around. CP3 can make players look better but most of Biz, Jalen and McGee's impressiveness has come from rebounding. Their finishing and efficiency improves but guys like Saric and Kaminsky have looked good and very bad at times (though they are not the type of athletic finishers like the others even though the others have less of an overall offensive game).

Phoenix Suns (@Suns) Tweeted:
.@bismackbiyombo became just the 7th player in Suns history with 20+ PTS, 10+ REBS and 5+ ASTS off the bench, the first since James Jones in 2006. (h/t @Stathead) https://t.co/971EoGKiYJ
