Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Jan 6, 2022 5:46 pm

The Phoenix Suns have agreed to sign Bismack Biyombo to a contract for the remainder of the season.

Biyombo has averaged 13.5 points, six rebounds and two blocks in his two games with the Suns on a 10-day deal.

The Suns also have JaVale McGee at center backing up Deandre Ayton.

A bit curious as to why the Raptors didn't make a run at him, especially when Birch (among others) was out...

Supposedly the Suns went after him back in August. With his father passing, and him needing time away from the game to grieve, I sense a deal with Phoenix would have been done already under different circumstances. He probably had intent to sign with Phoenix once he was ready.
I wouldn't be surprised if teams like Toronto reached out, but he already had his mind made up.

I am really happy por Bismack.
But I do not understand what the team is going to do once Ayton and Javale are back. Three similar centers. Only one spot on court. Still Kaminsky to come back, although he is different.
I have no clue for this.

Well, they only need two centers, but since injury and illness are both possible, three is better than two.

What's wrong with having a backup in case of injury? Not like Biyombo is going to complain about playing time once everyone's healthy. And I'm sure his contract is small enough that they could just waive him if need be with no consequences.
