LeBron’s honestly been so unlikable for me lately. Calling for the Wizards announcer to lose his job over what was obviously just a mistake with no bad intentions involved at all. Yet the dude downplays a virus that has killed 5.5 million people worldwide by comparing it to the common cold and still almost certainly considers himself some social justice hero.

Re: The LeBron James - 21-22 Regular Season Thread - New Thread Soon Part 2
i looked it Up and it seems like Wizards announcer said somethingh about "quick trigger just like his dad" about Kevin Porter jr, whose dad went to jailo for manslaughter and is dead now
calling for a firing is too extreme since but i can also easily see how the comment was really damn tonee deaf, but it also could be accidental and the announcer not know about that story
bad lebron there, but that comment was also pretty damn bad although (hopefully) accidental, so i can see how it may have come across
is also not the first time lebron is a bit too quick (maybe) to perceive racism or bigotry (remember the Phil Jackson stuff? granted Jackson also said black players were dumber from rap Music once or somethingh like that too)

I would hope that the Wizards announcer (wrongly) assumed Kevin Porter from the 80s Washington squad was Kevin Porter Jrs father and was trying to make that connection. Not some sort of sick joke about a guy nobody knows about.
Dumb and deserving of an apology though.

for the most part i agree, but if i was a Jason kidd or karl malone fan discovering about their wifebeating or raping i would probably start looking for a new favorite player
so there are definitely instances where the person makes it hard to root for the basketball player (which doesnt mean you cannot like them as players or evaluate them fairly, it just makes it hard to root for them)
granted few players have done thinghs on the level of those two

Raping is a criminal activity, it's not *hitposting on twitter or virtue signaling about social justice, it's a different story

Did you make a wrong turn, guy?
We have a general board for this sort of thing. The usual suspects will be there to eat it up and you willl get pats on the back (and that-a-boys) to your hearts content.

i mean, the fact he didnt make a thread in the general board would suggest he doesnt want to farm likes
is fair to disagree but i dont think yoyoboy comments are not somethingh that doesnt "belong" on this thread

- Wizards announcer should probably lose his job even if it was a mistake. Meyers Leonard lost his and he claims it was a mistake in that he didn't know what the word meant.
- The virus wasn't downplayed, he followed up that they present similarly and it seems difficult to tell them apart since its flu and cold season at the moment.

i dont know what lebron said about covid but i disagree with the Wizards part
it seems like an absolutely unfortunate coincidence while meyers Leonard using slurs by accident seems a lot less likely (and tbh i feel meyers should have got a second chance after doing a formal apolpgy)

Praying the league continues low balling Morey and he loses his mind, and trades Simmons for Westbrook.

Honestly if I were Portland I'd take Simmons+Maxey in a heartbeat for Lillard.
The guy is looking old and seems to value money over championships.

i dont see the issue with that, people talk a lot about loyalty but only with the lucky guys who got to win cause their team was able to make a strong team around them
loyalty to middling teams esaentially means taking money over championships

I don't have an issue with Lillard wanting that but as a team I think it'd be smart to move him on and rebuild.
Feels the same as older Kobe and Lakers, it's not bad but there are probably a better route to take for a team like Portland.

Leonard was barely hanging onto a roster when he decided to run his mouth. He’d have gotten a second chance if he’d been any good.

Not farming for likes but seeking validation none the less. Bringing just a dash of that general board eau de parfum to the LeBron thread.
The general board has enough of that. Discussions are typically basketball heavy on this side.
To be clear…
I was not entirely serious btw. Just a little bit of truth mixed with a smidge of prick adjacent humor in the afternoon.

Westbrook is the real lowball offer. Remember Morey already had Westbrook, it was the final move that ended their window and his job on the Rockets. The offers they refused will be preferable to russ. Morey is just holding out for a tier 1 superstar. Talk to 6er fans and they all seem to think it's AD that they'll get if the Lakers come knocking. The franchise is operating on a different plane of expectation.
The lowball offers weren't even that bad. Morey wants a contender to trade him one of their central contending pieces for Ben, a move that defeats the other team's purpose of doing the trade in the first place.

I'd be shocked. I recall seeing a post yesterday or the day before on the GB where a Sixers fan was saying that there's no way he'd include Maxey in on that deal anymore at this point. I believe his exact words were "that ship has sailed".
