Man this kid did not turn out at all like what I thought he would be like pre-draft. I hate drafting international guys cause it's not like there's the same tv time to actually watch some games.
Plus you had O'Connor making him sound like he had a aggressive Harden style of play instead of being a poor mans Elfrid Payton.

Yeah and I'm not real happy with the 50 games. It was still a top 7 pick and I don't like his style of play for a starting PG already.
Not to say he might not still be a valuable role player off the bench or something but I don't like what he brings as a starter right now.

He needs To be more aggressive in his own offense, his offensive is not bad at all, he needs to take more risks, drive for contact to get free throws, but I think he still very much has chance to be baller in the league he’s only 20, but the offensive game has to come together more if he has any chance to be a rotation player on a good team. But he’s still a top three guard on our **** team.

Re: Killian Hayes among the worst offensive players in the game according to this chart
It shouldnt shock people that the Pistons looked better with DRose (great at driving and actually good shooter too) and Ellington (had some excellent stretches).
That combo of a basket driving threat plus shooting (Bey, Svi, Ellington) made for better looking offense.
Hayes is a net negative for the offense side. The worst defender on the other team can stand around and ball watch when Hayes is on the floor, he takes a a few shots a game. Anyone watching film should know Hayes doesnt want to shoot after driving, so always look to pick off his pass once he reaches the free throw line.
Its 50 games, that range from worst starter in the league to below average.
My guess is Cade with Diallo would be better or even guys like McGruder, Ellington, KCP.

These comments are all fair about Killian. All the criticism is very fair. I think killian is a good rotational player, you need guys like him to run the offense but he’s not a starter. He can be if he’s the fifth option on offense and that’s allowed because he can make the right plays. But in no way in my opinion will he be like a Ricky Rubio making others better around him. He’s got the skill set but not the mindset because honestly the game is hard but not as hard as he’s making it out to be. I’d still give him the rest of the year before making a final judgment. Even then he’s still very young. The truth is by the time Killian figures out the game we will have Emoni Bates drafted to replace him. It’s not a big deal for Killian to suck. He’s a good guard off the bench and plenty of players have made a living off that role.

For the record not a single player outside of Lyles and Cojo should be ousted as a potential failure/bust. This year is all about getting tanking and learning everything about how to play the game the wrong way. We simply don’t have enough talent to win and that’s more than okay because that’s how the team is built fundamentally. NO BIGS ON THE TEAM. Any true basketball fan knows it’s impossible to win without bigs and don’t talk to me about the warriors.

Yep, I posted previously that even in a so-called "wasted" season the players are still getting experience which, to your point in this case, is experience in what DOESN'T win games. That's still valuable experience.

Re: Killian Hayes among the worst offensive players in the game according to this chart
I post this as someone who thinks Killian should be a bench player, even on the worst team in the league. It's from the Ringer. If you want to stop here, the basic point is that your average replacement player was significantly better than Killian. It also doesn't bode well for the trade for THT crowd.
Replacement players’ PER, weighted by minutes played, is 9.7—not a good score, given that 15 is average, but in the range of many well-known NBA players: Jae Crowder, Duncan Robinson, and Matisse Thybulle are all at 10.2 this season; Jalen Green and Davis Bertans are at 10.1; Joe Harris, Kevin Porter Jr., and Payton Pritchard are at 9.8; and players like Robert Covington, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Killian Hayes [8.07] all rate below the hardship group, to say nothing of the many back-of-the-bench players who do as well.

Do people really want THT here for Hayes? It'd be a lateral upgrade at best, no? Hell, do people even know who THT is without googling? He's looking more like the old meme trades from the 2017 Cavs with Shump, TT and Nets pick offer being peddled at every trade offer from that fanbase.

Re: Killian Hayes among the worst offensive players in the game according to this chart
I’m over Killian and have already moved onto the ‘let’s find a legit replacement’ bandwagon.
Yes he’s young.
Yes, he hasn’t played an entire NBA season worth of games yet.
But I’ve seen all I need to see out of him. I’ve seen what he can do and what he can’t. At best, he’s a decent backup PG brought in to play D and distribute. He can’t be counted on to do much more than that.
Either package him with Grant or swing him for another recent draft pick who isn’t getting playing time (Jalen Smith?)

I’m still pretty confused why Killian is above getting some reps and building confidence in the G-League.
It seems to have worked wonders for Saben Lee.
