The Knicks get the cap space back.
The Cavaliers get a solid bench player long-term.

That's Evan Fournier and Ricky Rubio for those concerned about first names in proposals.

I'm really struggling to see this one. The Hawks don't really have any of the things available that the Sixers are said to be seeking or would make sense given what's on their roster.

Would have to include Collins and Hunter or Bogi I guess and take back Danny Green with Simmons? A third team could get involved as the Hawks have a lot of depth someone else might find useful.

But then there really needs to be a Tobias Harris trade lined up I'd think.

Problem is that it doesn’t make much sense to pair Simmons with Capela or even Okongwu. Just not a good fit with the hawks roster on the offensive end.

Would Gallo+Bogdan+Hunter be similar value to Simmons+Green+Joe?

Trae, Green, Simmons, Collins, Capela -- Wright, Huerter, Reddish, JJ, Okongwu

Curry, Bogdan, Hunter, Harris, Embiid -- Maxey, Thybulle, Korkmaz, Gallo, Drummond

Two negative contracts and a guy who is healthy a couple of weeks a year? No, I don't think so.

Who do you think has positive value on the Hawks?

Most of their roster has positive value. It's just mostly young guys that have positive value because of their potential but none of them have realized their potential enough to be anywhere close to what they are looking for. Like obviously OO has positive value but I don't have him as the headliner of a Simmons return.

Well then the answer is simple.

Rebuilding team send star to Philly
Philly send Simmons to Hawks
Hawks send developing assets to rebuilding team

Hunter/Reddish/Okongwu/Collins. How positive of value do you think Simmons' contract is?

If it was that simple the hawks would just take the star themselves

Really? They'd take Lillard?

Schlenk has been trying to reimagine the GSW blueprint and I could see him thinking that Trae-Simmons might have the Curry-Green dynamic.

That same formula applies to a handful of other teams including the Wolves, Cavs, and Knicks. At that point the question comes down to which team is willing to fork over the most developmental assets. The second question would be that if a rebuilding team is moving a star why wouldn't the Simmons suitors just trade for the star and avoid the issues that come with Ben.

Hawks are different to teams willing to give picks. They have young potential players that could interest a franchise that doesn't want to be losing for long. I think Portland is a team like that.

For the Wolves that's probably true, but teams like the Cavs and Knicks have plenty of young guys that are similar in caliber to the Hawks. I'm also not convinced that a rebuilding team wouldn't value picks over developmental players.

I hope not. Curry and Trae play nothing alike.

There is definite similarities. People just forget what Curry looked like when Green wasn't starting. He was at 40% ast%.

Curry is a gifted passer and playmaker but his assists were coming from different sets and his style was different than Trae.

Trae is much more heliocentric and his game is much more reliant on the drive and attack type game than Steph's ever was.

Simply looking at AST% and claiming they play alike is disingenuous to people who watch them player. Trae is much more similar to James Harden/Luka Doncic than Steph Curry.

You've seen him play one way because of the way he's been pushed into the league. Do you think Trae is really that basic? He has one way he can play?

Sounds like you think he plays like Westbrook
