Hell ya. But it will be by coaches. Fans just don;t know about FVV. Even a ton of raptors fans have a long running narrative they can't get over.
Has the offensive stats to be there, the defence for sure, and advanced stats are the bomb.

The point is that all-star selection, particularly after the start sections (which incorporate fan voting) is about the best players in the league, NOT which players you think are entertaining, think are "stars" (whatever that means) or will sell tickets/get ratings.
Of course defense matters in deciding the best players. So do impact and advance stats, which all show that FVV has been better than guys like Ball, Garland, Beal, Tatum, etc. this season.
If you believe Eastern head coaches between travel, watching film, games, practice, sleep, covid testing, w.e other daily tasks they have are sitting down breaking down advanced stats for a pool of ~10 guards to widdle it down to 3 or 4 to scribble on a note card, then I tip my hat to you.
You even say it yourself... you don't think coaches scout and know which players are good?

They aren't sitting here watching 1 guy or even 1 team. I doubt there is enough coaches who are going to have 3 or 4 spots and a player pool of 10+ guys on their ballot and pick FVV.YogurtProducer wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:Dino-Might wrote:

For that matter, I hardly believe the 15 head coaches even pick their own ballot. Probably gets passed off to an assistant coach, scout, or equiptment manager to pick 7 guys. There is no incentive for 15 head coaches to support some narrative 1 fan base believes lol

Watch this video and make a decision as to why h e is an all star ..
Casual fans have Kyrie... Butler .. and Adebayo ahead of Garland in the East... Those dudes have not played enough games to qualify for an all star appearance...without fan voting .they don't even make it in...NBA needs to add a criteria. To say..u have played in a number of games before entering their names in a ballot to be an all star..

For years we were told the exact same things about Lowry. Turns out coaches actually appreciate the players who are good and don’t turn into narratives.
The coach selections are actually usually really solid.
I guarantee coaches have FVV over Garland. Absolutely can lock that in.

Re: Should Fred Van Vleet be an all-star?
Yes Fred Van Vleet is an all-star. Raps have crept back into the playoff picture (currently 7th) and FVV has been balling out all year long. Clutch shots, good point of attack defense, currently leading a surprise top 10 offense, top 20 in a lot of advanced categories (including 3rd in RAPTOR and 6th in EPM).
He's a top 20 player this year.

Yes, the numbers speak for themselves. He is one of the best guards in the league this year.

Yes he is playing at an All Star level
East All Stars look something like
KD
Harden
Giannis
Embiid
LaVine
Starting 5
Backups
Allen
Jimmy
LaMelo
Tatum
Freddy
Trae
DeRozan
Maybe Beal knocks Freddy out, if Beal keeps up his level of play and Wiz are still up on Raps but Fred has been better than Beal this year

I guess it's a good thing most NBA games are at night then.

It will 100% depend where the teams are seeded when the ballots are passed out, I can guarantee that.

True, but it seems bold to think the Cavs without Rubio are going to be higher than the Raps who are finally healthy.

Fred Vanvleet is averaging an arbitrary X X & X that nobody in franchise history has done before and he's short therefore he should be an all star.
Yeah, that's not convincing anyone.

Cavs gotta get one of Garland or Allen in, the ASG is in CLE and the team should still be at or above .500 by the time coaches vote.

Freddy with 24 points in the 3rd quarter including 17 straight without a miss plus 4 steals in that span! Raps were stinking the joint out until freddy went wild.

They're really long and hard on the D end. They have probably the lengthiest roster by wingspan. Some athletic dudes there, they take up a lot of space on the court, I can see them upsetting someone if they're clicking.
