As much as I'd love for you guys to blow it up so that my Grizz can try to acquire a Jay, I think it would be much smarter to try to find a cheap facilitating PG option and see if you can find a better long term solution this offseason. Rubio was someone I really wanted for you guys since last offseason but his injury messes that up. Maybe you can get him this offseason or something but he can't help you right now. I don't know how available Tyus Jones is from Memphis but I think he should be your target as temporary help. Don't know what the specific details of the trade would be, but I think he could help stabilize you guys and get your guys the ball in their spots while adding some shooting. He did well for us when Ja was out so though he may not necessarily win you games, he can help you stop losing them/giving them away. Dragic might be another option.

I don't think Memphis can trade for Juan so may need to make it a three team deal but Tyus for Juan+draft compensation?

Richardson+Juan for Dragic?

Both proposed ideas add to the tax which may be a deal breaker but at least the players are expiring. I personally don't really want to move Tyus but the FO might as they continue to focus long term as opposed to just this season.

thanks but we already have a cheap facilitating PG of the future on the roster but our coaching staff and fan base are too stupid to realize it

He doesn't solve any of our issues.

Getting Westbrook means the Celtics will get a higher lottery pick.

Would you rather the Celts picking 13th or 7th or 8th?

Westbrook will bring basketball IQ of the Boston Celtics to new lows.

Hence, the higher lottery pick.

At this point in time, it's very clear the Celtics are a lottery team.

There's no getting better anymore, it's too late.

December was the month to do something about the roster.

Now us Celtic fans must accept reality and that reality is the Boston Celtics of 2021-22 are not a playoff team.

On the bright side, if the Celts get the 7th or 8th pick then that's something to look forward to.

That's not the point. You just dump unwanted salary on the Rockets in exchange for a pick or two. Then you buy Wall out. Nobody's suggesting that you acquire him for basketball reasons.

Don't let BostonCouchGM discourage you from posting here in the future.

I think both players are valid options, but not on their own because we would create a roster crunch at the point guard spot. If a trade like that would go down and be followed up by a tax move of Schröder + Langford/Nesmith for player X rookie deal big man, i think the Celtics would be in a better spot.

So the plan would be to not make a trade, let this ride out, and sell Tatum and Brown on playing with more youth? If the Celtics finish with the 8th overall pick one of the Jays will force a trade. Again, Boston is not a huge market for the NBA in the same way that Miami LA or NY is. Those places can afford missteps and can keep talent. The Celtics cannot. They need to do the next two years perfectly otherwise one or both are gone. You can move Brown for comparable value right now but once he asks for a trade teams will be lining up to give you 2 Dimes and a nickel for a quarter.

A patterned BostonCouchGM snappy answer. I don't mind those to be honest and sometimes your takes actually have very valid points. Like in this case, PP might actually be the solution to our problems. But you just can't hold yourself back and call the entire fanbase stupid. Why would anyone want to have a conversation with you if you call them stupid in your very first respone to a post?

Personally i'd love to talk veteran point guard vs youngster pro's and con's. It hasn't happend here (as far as i'm aware) but just not with you.

The problem is the Celts can't be fixed this season.

If it's true that Ime will not get fired any time soon then it's pointless to make changes to improve the team.

Ime is #1 on the list of things that need fixing.

GSW was a lottery team last season.

There's nothing wrong with being in the lottery for one season.

Brad and the Celts could've made changes in December.
Right now it's too late.

The only move that's realistic right now is to trade Marcus Smart.

He's the only one with significant trade value.

You can make a change in a positive direction such as a Ben Simmons or Fox with the eye of competing next season. The dream of signing a close to max free agent in the offseason vanished with that ridiculous Smart extension and signing Timelord to deals they could have done in the offseason. So the only route to improve this team is through trades. Teams know this and predictably they're going to rake them over the coals. They need to add a star type player to change the dynamic. Changes to the edges won't fix the issue.

As much as Ime has sucked you can't make him the #1 problem when the same core as last year and the year before is still underwhelming. Smart Brown Tatum...one of those three have to go. Smart is not a real point guard. He should be the odd man out. He'll probably be last man standing and this board will go into a full scale riot if he's traded but its the right move.

As for the GSW comparison its apples and oranges. Half their team was hurt. This team is healthy.

I really question his trade value. Can't shoot, can't run point. He's a bench player on a looong deal close to 20mil a year without a defined role other than "defensive specialist" and I'm not sure that's in high demand for his salary range. Hope I'm wrong

I wouldn’t make any major moves until Ime is gone.

This guy is so clueless he doesn’t know what to do with good players now. He’s an imposter assistant hanging his hat on the achievements of his former head coaches.

So uhh... is our "market size" big enough for Donovan Mitchell?

Donovan Mitchell has become one of the NBA's brightest stars, despite playing in one of the league's smallest markets. But there is growing speculation around the league that market size might matter to Mitchell.

In the first round of All-Star voting returns, Mitchell was seventh among Western Conference guards. That's seen as a signifier that Mitchell isn't getting the attention he should, due to the market he plays in.

Unless Morey is willing to eat crow, Simmons won't be traded until the Summer. Oh sure, between now and the deadline there will a rumor every other day that this team is interested or that team is interested, but most of it will be complete BS that most likely originated in Philly.

Despite his very obvious flaws, I wouldn't mind seeing the Celtics giving Simmons a go if it didn't cost Tatum or Brown (which is unlikely). This current Celtics team is going nowhere (and seems to be breaking), having Tatum, Brown and Simmons means they would have three young All Star level players who are under contract for multiple seasons. If it works - great, if it doesn't work then they can see which two of the three seem like the better longer term fit and use the third player to trade for other more complimentary pieces.
I would likely do the same. If you keep Brown and Tatum to me it is the right move. Any thoughts of Levine are long gone and I've always wondered if Beal was a fit. It would take Smart , Timelord and sweetener and that could work for both teams
