Stephen Curry is probably on a decline in his career

Post#1 » by Vampirate » Sat Jan 8, 2022 4:30 pm

He's still easily the greatest 3 point shooter ever, and is still the best 3 point shooter even today, still has a superstar impact on that team.

First of all before I begin i'm not going to count the 2019-2020 season.

Also I acknowledge he can just get very hot and raise his averages towards his season averages.

Let's look at his numbers this season compared to previous seasons.

His field goal percentage is under 45% for the first time in his career. (42%)

His three point percentage is under 40% for the first time in his career. (38.8%)

These are low for his standards.

I think he's been on a graceful decline in his overall shooting since his MVP year but he's been so otherworldly good it's hard to notice. Well except for this year.

A lot of the Superstars that are now in their 30s seem to be slowing down.

Warrior fans feel free to comment in this and make me look foolish if he just has an amazing 2nd half to the season.

wait until the season is over to make a judgement. he had a few really bad shooting nights over the last few games, which drag down his numbers heavily.

All facts and it’s been sad to see. It’s been very noticeable.

Every time a thread like this one appears, Steph goes nuclear.

But he's the favorite to win MVP.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

He's getting up there in age. People assume that just because Lebron exists everyone else's prime is also going to last into late 30s.

In other words, another "exposed" thread.

Phraudcat would be proud.

If we're just going by his shooting numbers declining, it's possible it's simply due to his teammates being the worst he's played with since he broke out.

It's much easier to be efficient when playing next to the second GOAT shooter and possibly the second GOAT scorer

Not exposed, more of a father time thread.

I know. It was more of a tongue in cheek comment.

That being said, I disagree with you... I think the sample size on Curry's performance, as you indicated in the OP, is still too small.

He's prone to bad stretches of play, it happened some times in the past.

I think he will be fine in the long run.

its his mom and wife **** up his rhythm. he aint gonna turn the corner when it comes to him being a pussy and not being able to handle pressure or any smoke. I guess

This is inappropriate and below the standards of our forum. Trolling, baiting, derailing and unnecessarily offensive all in one short comment. Please don't respond to this anymore, everyone. -b

We do have a lot time for curry to change things but him falling off is not far fetched. Dude is 34, most guys at that age are out of the league. We'll see what happens.

Was your Lucky Charms this morning tough enough on your tummy?

Does the 29-9 record that Steph’s team still has leave you a sour mouth?

It's pretty obvious his teammates are better this year than last.

RealGM tells me every year LeBron is declining when ever his team loses 2 regular season games. This has been going back to when he was still on the Heat.

What is Curry, 33? Yeah, I'm not falling for that again.

It's called a cold streak. A bad one at that. You also had the 3 games where he was gunning it like JR Smith going for the 3PT record and shot poorly. If we're talking impact and not just raw percentages, no he isn't in visible decline. This will be another thread to revisit in a month or two.

Na, against the Mavs it wasnt a cold streak with shots not falling, he was just terrible in every aspect.

I know his ankles are going to let him fall off a cliff one day, the same they did with Dirk. Wouldnt be surprised if this is starting to happen allready
