If Portland decides to throw in the towel, this may be a preview game for some potential trade deadline acquisitions.

They're not throwing in the towel yet

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Rondo can pass the ball.

Lauri gets a lot of phantom calls against him.

Anybody notice that a lot of veteran players around the league seem to have a relationship with Garland? He seems like a 'little bro' to a lot of 32+ year old guys on other teams out there.
I always see other players like LeBron, Curry, Beal hyping him and same goes for TV guys like Perkins. What relationship does he have with all these guys because there are plenty who Stan for him like they know him on a personal level.
He seems to have a 'in' with all of these all star level players somehow like they all know his dad or something lol

A reasonably comfortable win. I seriously doubt Portland would have melted down like this with Lillard on the court though and the Cavs should be happy getting away with the win this time. Rondo will be fine although he can't fill the hole that Rubio left, but gives the team at least a chance against the top teams.

willing to bet he's gone to a ton of basketball camps in his life and has known a lot of those guys since he was 12 or something.

I was actually disappointed in Rondo's performance last night. I say 'actually' because I'm a big fan of his. But he jacked way too many 3's and didn't seem to be playing within the team's offense. He was moreso running his own offense when he had the ball. Hopefully that changes as he gets more familiar/comfortable with the system.

A lot of his passes seemed off-target to me. I didn't mind the shots as most of them were pretty good looks.

They were good looks because they were daring him to shoot. Because he's not a good shooter. He's going to have open looks from 3 every game.

Over 30% the last three years and over 40% last year, so it's got a chance to come around.

Darius Dad played in the NBA. Darius balled out at the McDonalds All-American Game, participated in the Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoops summit. Add in that he was Mr. Basketball in TN 3x and the #1PG recruit and he’s had some brand.
So, a kid with the right stuff who is comfortable with NBA players and acted right is pretty easy to keep an eye on and welcome as a peer.

Team USA + Klutch = Connected.
Doesn't hurt that the kid has a light up the room personality and umm he's pretty talented.
Give me Kyrie-light with none of the mental blocks ... that's what Rubio and Rondo recognize... a player that with time and will can learn from them and potentially go way beyond them.

It was Rondo's first game with the team ... not disappointed at all
