True, although i’m not sure why he’s negative. Yes he’s not an all star and not gonna be the number 1 option but at the same time he’s a contributing role player who could probably be a great bargain pickup for a gm

Contributing role players are in the 10-20 million dollar range but CJ is paid 10+ million too much for his contributions which is what makes him negative.

Ya, I have fully come around to this. I am not even sure we could get Love and a highly protected FRP at this point. I think the dream of moving him and picks for an upgrade has been dead for some time, but the backup less-dreamy idea of moving him for a lateral talent that fits better is dead as well. I think we are looking at a straight type swap for someone overpaid like Love, or potentially break him up into a few overpaid role players.

Everything sucks right now, except the lotto hopes.

He's got to come back and productive before he's going to bring back a useful asset. Likely the best thing to do
is keep him for the season and with one less left on his deal see what he brings this off season or closer to the
trade deadline, next season.

Nearly season-long injured high price player last low trade value, news at 11.

Definitely feeling the Windhorst "who gives a f" energy about NBA trades and the game as a whole this year.

Anyone want to discuss a CJ for Tobias Harris swap?

Nope, his contract is even worse

I have an open mind about it. It's a lateral move in terms of talent, but the fit is arguably better for both teams. The contract is worse, so there would have to be some creativity with it.

CJ + LNJ = Harris + Thybulle ??? I would do that

I've said it before... I'm a bit concerned about a bad trade getting done. I don't want to see us get robbed by some other GM, and steal ANT or Little for some has-been. I'm certain some will try.

And I honestly think the CJ - Harris ship has long sailed away. With Simmons gone, Harris can now play PF, with MT at the 3... Seth at the 2.

Love for CJ... maybe, but that is alot of money for a player that simply doesn't move the needle for them. CJ should have decent value though, but he is expensive and not healthy or young anymore. Bottom line... I think to find the right fitting team for CJ, with the right player returning is going to be a SMALL for your BIG type of trade and will require a really good GM to accomplish. I'm highly doubtful we have that right now.

Sort of off topic, but I am really liking what I see from Watford. Enough so that I would like ro see them get far enough under the tax that they can sign him to a 4 year Elleby/Brown type of deal. He has the look of a long term backup powerforward. He has a Trent Jr. type of fearlessness.

Things have changed for the Bulls and Portland obviously. If Portland does a rebuild or even a singular tank year, do you think they'll be looking to trade Nance Jr? A trade revolving around Nance Jr + 2022 Portland 2nd for the Protected Portland 1st + expirinf filler? Getting that 1st back gives them much more flexibility with it in the future. This could also be a 3 way trade where the Bulls send DJJ elsewhere and Portland gets some modest value from him (2nd rounder(s), a lower tier prospect, etc). Gets Nance off the books next year as well not sure if that's something Portland would want to do for additional flexibility.

I’d be fine with this. Basically taking a mulligan on that trade which I hated in the first place anyway. Thought Olshey made a pretty bad trade moving a 1st rounder for Nance… who really didn’t deserve a 1st being moved for.

I don't think the Bulls have the salary to match, and Blazer cannot reacquire DJJ, so a third team is needed. OKC needs to get to salary floor so they could be good for something like this. Bonus if it gets the Blazers out of the tax as well. But I like this being a first domino to fall, just because it opens up more trade options.

Portland trades: Nance jr. + SRP
Portland receives: Brown jr. + Blazers 1st

OKC trades: SRP
OKC receives: Jones jr.

Chicago trades: Jones jr. + Brown jr. + Blazers 1st
Chicago receives: Nance jr. + 2 SRP

I wonder if OKC would really be willing to give up a 2nd when they're simply taking on an expiring contract for nothing. I'd be on board with that trade for sure.

Yeah, probably not lol. I think theres a lot of ways to tinker with this to make it fair for all teams though. The framework for a trade is there.

DJJ has been really solid this year actually. I'd imagine there would be a third team that would give up at least a 2nd for him. Not sure it would help Portland's luxury tax situation though.

I don’t care about Portlands lux tax situation personally (same probably can’t be said about ownership), I just want that pick back. Such a boneheaded move by Olshey to give up a first in that deal.
