Nothing spiteful from Thibs at all. Obi is doing fine in his backup QB role. He wasn’t good as a starter and the Knicks kept losing

Julius is Mark Jackson and Obi is Rod Strickland on the Knicks in the late 80s.

Mark was ROY and then Rod was drafted the following year. Even tho Rod was nice and showed a lot of potential as a Knick (2nd team all rook, 19/9 per 36) we ended up trading him for Mo Cheeks’s corpse because we didnt need another young PG they said.

Well that move prob cost Ewing & Co. a championship in the 90s as Rod was the athletic PG and 2nd option they needed. Mark ended up being traded a few years later himself for an old Doc Rivers and friggin Charles Smith.

Obi will be better than Julius just like Rod ended up better than Mark. It shall be written. Hopefully we keep the right one this time if we dont think they can play together.

Rod was courtside at this game too. A NY guy. Kyrie’s godfather. Reminding us what coulda been.

he'd be playing 20 minutes, having sheepish numbers and posters here would be citing how obi toppin is averaging 20 and 8 on another team and how the knicks should've drafted him.

so true

Do you think he broke Kemba on purpose? Feels that way to me

I honestly think he did too. He must’ve not liked how the bad press from benching Kemba was looking for him and he decided to play a guy with known knee problems 37, 40, 43, 40, and 33 minutes in consecutive games. Ofc Kemba obliged bc he was benched for wanting to sit out when Derrick went down and the Knicks were short at the guard. Just some really shady behavior from Thibs.

Idk if it’s nefarious behavior. Thibs is just a nut job who doesn’t believe in stamina or rest lol. He’s playing Julius 40 mpg again too right out of covid. Despite all the criticism he’s gotten over this stuff as a coach he hasn’t changed.

Julius is in the prime of his career while Kemba is coming off major knee surgeries. We have no idea if Randle even had any symptoms and he missed way less time than RJ and Obi or at least that’s how it felt. It’s just negligent behavior to play Kemba that many minutes no matter how well he’s playing because there’s life outside basketball.

Thibs didn't use Obi right at all. Played him to his weaknesses instead of his strengths.

But Obi can't be a starting 4 in the league as long as keeps shooting 21% from 3. That won't cut it.

Can someone post the link where the poster made a correlation between the game winner and RJ's potential ascension after.

He hit the nail on the damn head and I want to read that article about how it affected him psychological going forward
