Lebron has definitely surpassed Jordan Crawford, or did you mean Jordan Farmar? Oh DeAndre Jordan, yeah he’s ahead of him too

Lebron can catch some of his accomplishments and statistical records with some luck, but he will never be on MJ's level as far as play goes. That has been established near on a decade ago.

Re: Lebron will catch Jordan with longevity
Like I said in a previous thread, winning more titles is literally the only thing that will convince the majority of his detractors that he's the GOAT. If longevity mattered as much as Lebron fans claim it does, you'd have to completely re-evaluate the rankings of all time greats. Evaluating peak's is always the better measurement because we want to know who was better at their best, not who lasted longer.

Re: Lebron will catch Jordan with longevity
Just a quick post/thought
What LeBron is doing is flat out remarkable. His longevity is legendary, but it's odd to claim it's 'the reason' he's the GOAT when other players have had longer careers than Jordan. As I basically noted in my first post, where is the Kareem talk in this debate from Lebron fans? It shows they don't believe longevity is the be-all and end-all in this discussion, it's always Jordan, Jordan, Jordan. Also the longer career argument is just flawed. By the logic, does that mean, Karl Malone > Bird?
OP already noted MJ had the higher peak(he did), so he admits LeBron was not as good. Also despite LeBron having a longer prime, Jordan still accomplished more. Wanna look at the accolade gap? it equals an all time great.
Jordan is with the likes of Gretzky, Babe Ruth. His legacy is untouchable.

How can a guy that dominated the weakest decade in NBA history be considered as having a higher peak? Who was his competition? Clyde Drexler? Reggie Miller? Mitch Richmond? Lmao. When people talk about the 90s greats they always name Jordan and then big men. He doesn’t match up against them, he matched up against Klay Thompson level perimeter players during his “reign”.

LeBron’s streak of eight Finals came during a historically weak level of competition in the Eastern Conference. The best team he beat was an aging Celtics team in the ECF.

LeBron is the GOAT already in my book and I think he caught Jordan for me in 2018.
It's probably different requirements for different people. I think LeBron will catch Jordan amongst the majority in the next decade some time.

Where would you rank those three guys today as compared to the rest of this list?Balls Deep wrote:How can a guy that dominated the weakest decade in NBA history be considered as having a higher peak? My prediction has always been that after James retires, his career will end up being viewed less favorably as he'll be seen as a guy who continually stacked the deck in his favor and still had mixed results at best.

Re: Lebron will catch Jordan with longevity
Yea but you can also make the case that LeBron needed ALOT more years to surpass MJ. MJ won 6 titles in 13 years. 15 years of you count the last 2 where he came out of retirement and did a reverse-Lebron......joined one of the worst teams in the league.

Those guys were a championship team and as good as any of the Knick’s or Pacers Jordan beat. So were the D Rose led Bulls. I was not just referring to the playoffs though, in the regular season LeBrons day-to-day perimeter competition **** on Jordan’s.

They would be somewhere 5–10 probably. They’re not garbage, but not close to KD, Kawhi, and Harden.

jordan only played like 13 complete seasons on a good roster---
bron needs to play second fiddle to a better lakers player to go far into 40es

People will scoff at this but keep in mind LeBron is his 19th NBA season. The previous gold standards for 19th season in the league were Kareem and Karl Malone, who averaged respectively 14.6 and 13.2 points per game...LeBron is averaging 28.7 ppg with an almost 27 PER. This is uncharted territory for a 19th year NBA player.
I can't yet say 44 but LeBron still being pretty decent at 40-41, yes.
Love the cherry pick, why not go by age and acknowledge LeBron has been spending 1M on his body for a long time.
LeBron hasn't won an MVP since he was in his 20's, Malone got his last one when he was 36 and then still had 4 more season of over 20ppg playing 80-82 games and 35.7mpg or more in all 4 of those seasons.

Yeah! Jordan had the decency to make sure he only ever got swept before the finals.
Inb4 "Yeah but those series were against the Celtics, it's a team sport, the Bulls were totally outmatched" while ignoring that LeBron got swept against Prime Curry/Prime Durant/Prime Klay/Prime Draymond/Iguodala/etc

Who else did he beat in the playoffs those eight years? The East was beyond pathetic overall. The Rose Bulls were a regular season gimmick and not a legit contender, and I say that as a Bulls fan. Thibs over-coaches his teams to far more wins in the RS than the talent level would win otherwise.

Re: Lebron will catch Jordan with longevity
You dont become GOAT by longevity, at least in my book. And Jordan's lack of longevity was because he had to play in college and him retiring twice after each threepeat. He still won more than Lebron despite his lack of longevity and not ring chasing as Levron is doing.
