The Jabari draft was an epically bad one by the Bucks. Not just passing on Embiid for Parker, but whiffing on all the second round picks miserably. We picked Damien Inglis AND Johnny O’Bryant ahead of MVP Jokic, Jerami Grant, Dinwiddie, Clarkson. Joe Harris and Dwight Powell also in that second round.
The terrible part of the 2nd round was we ran a high post offense that required a passing center, yet we passed on Jokic twice. It was a crushing night all around, because Parker never looked like a winning player. Never would have guessed that, years later that night would both prove to be a disaster, and would be inconsequential as we'd still have a budding dynasty.
*raises hand RE: Parker
Dude was the Jadeveon Clowney of his time. A good deal of his hype was based off of one highlight play, but regardless I think many here saw the red flags with Jabari. The biggest shocker though was the fact that his character turned out to be garbage. In hindsight I suppose we could’ve seen that coming too given that he was the son of an nba player and insulated by people old and young telling him he was the greatest thing since pretzeled bread, but at the time he was at least saying all the right things and flashed a million dollar smile.
I must also eat crow in that I didn’t want the injury risk of Embiid and it was Wiggins, Exum or bust for me.
