Woj: Pistons finalizing a trade for Bol Bol

Post#1 » by 7r5ur » Sun Jan 9, 2022 7:29 pm

Good to have someone taller than 6-8 on the roster lol. Will be interesting to see which 2nd rounder it is.

EDIT: It's Brooklyn's 2nd, so basically no-risk here.

Someone who's been mentioned around here a few times in trade talk. Nice to add a young center that can hopefully protect the paint for us.

Seems like a no brainer to try out at the expense of McGruder and a 2nd.

No issue with taking a flyer on the guy.

If it comes to nothing then we didn't venture much.

bol is completely out of the nuggets' rotation (was last season too) so i hope people really temper their expectations with him. he's also an expiring deal so there's no harm in taking a flyer on him.

I think that the fact that they were wiling to give him up for filler and a future second rounder should alone be enough to temper folks' expectations.

Young cheap players with a good chance of success don't get traded, at least not for cheap.

Brooklyn 2nd isn't worth anything, and I'm happy McGruder is gone, if Bol turn into something it's a bonus.

What does our rotation look like now? Seems like bad news for Luka.

I love this! Hopefully Bol seizes the opportunity. And hopefully Bol gets Stewarts minutes eventually

The funny part here is Bol Bol seems like exactly the type of player/personality that immediately ends up in Casey's dog house based on everything I've heard from Nuggets fans.

More or less Thon Maker redux.

I don't know much thing about Bol Bol as a player other than being aware of the degree of hype around him going into his draft, and the injury and other concerns that lead to that stock tanking.

Beyond the superficial how much do these 2 guys have in common?

I had high hopes for him coming out of the draft but at this point I don’t really see much.

Doesn’t seem like there’s much downside to the trade but in all reality after not showing any flashes in the last 3 years, there’s probably not too much upside either.

Best case scenario. Bol shows us enough that we offer him a 2 year 5 mill (trey lyles deal) after the season. Worst case scenario? I dont have to watch McGruder playing power forward for us.

Garza is much more skilled but will be exciting to see what he can do. Wondering if he will get sent down to the cruise at all.

from everything i've seen/read in the last hour is that bol is a PF, not a center (which surprised me). heck, a third of his career field goal attempts are 3s so i doubt he provides much of an interior presence. pretty much a broke man's porzingis, if you will.

i'm sure they'll compete for some minutes but i think olynyk coming back is much more of a threat for garza's playing time.

Good trade.

Get the rest of the season to evaluate a young big, Bol Bol, directly at a low risk.

Not expecting much, but this is the type of deal we should be looking at making

Love this trade.Bol is much more skilled than Thon. Curious to see what he can do in a consistent role

Why not? But I always thought he looked pretty good like he could give a game changing presence for like 20 minutes a night. It’s a good move. He is on a 50+ winning team and we have sucked for some time, I think he has way more value to our roster, but I’ve definitely have been wrong about everything this season.
