The most excited I’ve been as a Duke fan in probably 5 years. Not sarcasm either, K has been living off of name recognition for close to a decade now. 2010 was the last time K was actually K. He’s been flat out bad the last 5 years.

I’m fully aware of his coasting. A lot of people have discussed it. Although, you’re the first Duke fan I’ve seen admit it.

Obviously that doesn’t take anything away from his HOF career. I’m glad he’ll be gone and hope it means we can steal a few more recruits from you guys. Probably wishful thinking though.

Any rumors if Izzo is leaving anytime soon? He's getting up there in age.

There’s always rumors, but I don’t think anyone really knows. Not even Tom IMO.

I don’t see it happening for at least a few more years.

To be fair, that’s how it is for every OAD at every school

even at duke? i dont think so. not at Stanford

Here are some of the classes Zion took while at Duke.

Duke’s Sociology major and Duke basketball players became something that everyone who knew about it always laughed at.

If they’re expected to be a 4 year player, they usually have the easiest majors. If they’re expected OADs, they take the easiest classes possible up front and many times barely even go to class in the 2nd semester. It’s like this everywhere.

Oh ya I haven’t been shy about my criticism of K on here. Most other Duke fans can’t stand me because ya many seem to still go with the thought process that you’re not allowed to critique the GOAT. But ya K has just wasted so much talent over the last few years. Hell just look at last night’s game against Miami. Only way to lose the game is if Miami got an offensive rebound off a FT. So you would think if you were K you would go big and make sure you had all your size and best rebounders out there just in case Miami missed. Nope, K kept his small lineup out there and Miami grabbed the offensive board and made a shot and won the game. Dude was okayish in 2015, that was more of just a great recruiting class and not K’s coaching. He’s been flat out bad since.

And when it comes to recruiting, I wouldn’t count on too much of a drop off. Scheyer has been the primary recruiter for the past few years and has been amazing. And so far next year’s class looks great and the year after is looking really good as well. Scheyer is a beast out on the recruiting trail.

What is funny is some people were defending it at the time saying he went there instead of Kentucky or Duke BECAUSE he was a competitor and wanted to beat the best instead of play with the best.

Reality is he went there because of a family connection and it isn't that relevant. It is relevant that he couldn't get them to the tournament.

Patrick Baldwin Jr chose UWM to play with his dad and it is turning into a disaster. Probably would've been a top 1 pick but not sure you can pick a guy that is on a 300+ rpi college team.

Duke4life831 wrote:He chose LSU because his godfather was a coach there. A guy going to a school because a family member is a coach isn’t all that rare.

Plus it wasn’t like LSU was some horrible school either, they were in the tournament the year prior Ben going there.

Wanting to be coached by your godfather could appear soft. If you are hard to coach and want things to go your way, you would want to be coached by someone close.

That he was adamant about being a PG and couldn't shoot were probably the red flags at LSU.

I have always wondered if the guys who go to College at places below their level for whatever reason regret it when they look back.

in fairness, thats an interesting course list, might as well have fun. Being a student athelte is really hard, its almost set up for you to not study much, so might as well have fun.
