I know you’re just passing this along but GEEZ Carlisle this is getting annoying dramatically dragging this rehab out to the media as you’re doing.

Meh. We hate when they don’t update us and now we don’t like it when they do. :dontknow:

It’s an update. It really might be the most they can update. But also, it’s only been 12 months since huis surgery. It’s not out of the real. If normal healing. I know I’ve been antsy and was hopeful he’d be back quickly, but that just isn’t the case. It’s a major thing, and if he is hypothetically back in weeks, but kinths, then he’d be back in a relatively fair timeline according to the injury he had.

HA! Just one question. How many days are in a "kinth"? Is that like multiple fortnights?

Heck, my fingers do bad enough on a full-sized laptop. I can't imagine trying to do much typing on a phone.

Agree no good reason as the Pacer staff/coaching is working with him daily and they know his progress. Helps us that the rest of the league won’t see him fire it up again if he’s good to go.

I'm really only interested in bringing him back if it is for the vet min.

That would be the bargain of the century.

I’d imagine he gets offers of $15m plus per year.

That seems pretty high to me. That number wouldn't really be a buy low for anyone. Sure, a buy low based on him being at his best, but not given the injury history. If someone goes that high I would imagine it would be a very team friendly deal with non-guaranteed money like Zach Collins got from SAS.

Doug’s getting almost $14m per. If Warren were healthy, would he get anything less than $25m? Remember, $15m per is less than 1/8th the salary cap, or around 12%. It’s not a whole heckuva lot. If we really think he’s a “buy low candidate”, it’s probably closer to $7-8m, right? Definitely not a vet minimum, unless he’s not going to be cleared for camp?

Let's hope any offers along those lines would be from another team. That's too much for a guy who can't stay healthy and is just an average to maybe slightly above average player.

I think the floor is the MLE and I'd gladly pay more than that.

Oh. He’s much better than an average to slightly above average player. He’s pretty good. Not a superstar, or even a star, but he’s a borderline all star guy. As we’ve seen without him, it’s hard to replace an efficient 20 ppg wing scorer with size who plays pretty decent to sometimes good defense. Outside of a real PG who can defend, it’s maybe one of the most wanted skill sets and archetype of player in the league.

Even if he's completely healthy now it's a gamble if he will be for the contract. And there's not many teams with that kind of space so you're looking at a sign and trade or some sort of cap creativity. Which probably means burning an asset or two as well.

I'm not saying I'll be floored if he does get that kind of money. Teams take gambles and can make things work if they truly want even without space. There are a number of factors working against him getting more than a prove it deal though.

We're probably one of the few teams who can pay him decent money and not have it be a big problem if it doesn't work given where we're at. Maybe we pay that kind of money. Not sure I'd be a fan of it depending on the structure.
