Re: Anyone else can't wait for Fultz to bench Cole Anthony?
Comparing Fultz and Cole stats mean nothing. He would be around 10 to 12 ppg maybe, if Vuc and buddies were still here. We do not know what Fultz would be doing if given the leash Cole has.
Now I have liked Coles improvements this year but he needs to understand his role for the team. Fultz is just better for the team right now.

I'm not sold on Fultz due to the 3pt shot but I'm ready to bench Cole once Suggs or Fultz is back.

What sucessful teams Fultz runned?
42-40 Magic where he was 5th most important starter?
Or mediocre college team 6 years ago?
Or running 76ers fans mad counts as running sucessful offense?
Fact that fanbase is expecting from 10 points, 49% TS point guard to save their franchase says a lot. We are not getting Ja Morant back, we are getting Eric Bledso-lite back.
I'm not big fan of Cole at all, but Cole is running offense with bunch of non nba bodies, fringe nba rotation players while Fultz actually had nice team to play with. Gordon, Vuc, Evan, Ross, isaac, Ennis, MCW, Augustin... far cry from Mo Bamba , g league players, Okeke and RJ Hampton.
Don't know. You tell me. I didn't say successful, you did.
I was saying exactly what you said (except for your constant hate on Fultz).
Cole deserves some credit for running a disastrous team.
Some magic fans are unbelievable, we finally got a 20ppg player and they want to get rid of him... incredible.

One clear advanced metric is that Anthony is a bad defender. Fultz simply has more tools to defend multiple positions.
Basketball is a two-way game and if you score more than the player you are defending, you are a good player. Anthony by that definition is not a good player. Will Fultz be better? We will see, I am fairly certain.

I'll put it this way...I really hope Fultz is good enough to unseat Anthony. We know he's bigger, stronger, longer...other than that, we'll see.

Re: Anyone else can't wait for Fultz to bench Cole Anthony?
I can kind of relate to both sides of this one.
It's very possible that Anthony isn't the long term answer. He's short and not blessed with real lower body fluidity, so he's always going to struggle defensively when matched up against just about anyone. He has massive trouble getting over screens and so will always allow his opposite number get shots off. On the positive side, he has an impressive offensive arsenal for his tender years, has shown some ability to play through a little contact and does move the ball at least in certain game situations.
In short, he's a mixed bag and it isn't clear if he's a long term answer for the Magic. But please just remind me (Franz aside) who exactly is a long term answer? If we were brushing aside everyone who had a big question mark around them, this would be a roster of one or two guys.
Fultz would be neither of those guys. He has his own limitations and his lack of an outside shot is a horrible limiter (which as Magic fans, we know better than anyone). Yeah, he can run an offense better but remember that Clifford used Fournier extensively to initiate PnR sets and also combined Fultz with DJ in order to not have him be the focal point all the time. Latterly, he was running the show more, but it's a small sample and the results were mixed.
His terrific game against the Lakers was one where you could see the possibilities he could bring. But they've been glimpses, just like the playmaking glimpses from Cole.
So, while results don't really matter and it's not clear if hardly anyone on this team is worth keeping, i suggest we try to enjoy watching Cole be Cole. It's not perfect, but what on this roster is?

Cole needs to be modeled after Jordan Clarkson. 6th guy, instant offense off the bench. brought in to be a flame thrower

Was it really? Fultz's on/off was slightly negative in 2019/20, his only full season. And in the 7 full games he played before his injury in 2021 we were way better statistically when he was on the bench. Yes, small sample size, but so many here are still saying he was dominating before his injury when this wasn't the case at all. And it's not like he was putting up some impressive individual stats in any of his seasons here.
Yes, he's a much better passer than Cole (pretty low bar for a PG) but the inability to shoot the 3 is a huge problem for a PG in the modern NBA.

Re: Anyone else can't wait for Fultz to bench Cole Anthony?
I'm just basing it off what I saw. The 2019-2020 season he only played like 10 games. Ross looked like Jordan in those games coming off the bench.Bergmaniac wrote:basketballRob wrote:The team was much better when Fultz was on the floor before his injury.

When we brought him off the bench and DJ played with the starters, the bench looked way better. That's when they made the move to start him. I think he'll do the same with Cole.

When I look at Cole and Fultz, all I see is young DJ Augustine with green light and Ramon Sessions coming back from knee injury. Suggs still has onboarding time to burn before being judged.

Cole is like a homeless version of his predecessor, Stephon Marbury.
He believes he is the hype that NY parks told him he is.
I'm perfectly happy if uses his skills to fulfill a role. I'm not happy when he thinks he's Steph Curry.

Sadly i agree, this discussion could be irrelevent and neither of them starts for us long term.

The first thing I noticed in summer league was that Cole and Suggs can't play together. The second thing I noticed was Suggs is better than Cole.
I'm going to stay with my initial reaction.

Feel free to argue me with stats, counter points, data, facts. If you have non, feel free to shove it.
There is no data in the world that would spin Fultz into "above average point guard" in nba. All that before he got hurt.
For whole Fultz career, you know, one where he should have been +300 games played player, he is 11 ppg, 46,6% eFG player in league where league's average is 5-6% above that and almost all nba teams have at least 3 players who average at least 14 ppg.
Fultz is below average starting PG in mold of worst version of Eric Bledsoe . For all I care, Eric Bledsoe might be GOAT in your mind, i might be dumb and not understand how Eric Bledsoe is best player in nba.

Your first post was a whirlwind of many OPINIONS about two players.
But look at you go, assuming my generic post was about one very specific thing.
Look at how hard you fight and struggle to pull in every stat you can find to defend a point no one else is arguing against …
Your insecurity is showing, sweetie.
