3-Way trade scenario NYK-DET-SAC

Knicks Trades: Alec Burks, Obi Toppin, Kevin Knox, Ray Arcidiacono, Nerlins Noel, Mavs 2023 pick (top 10 protected) , Hornets 2022 pick (top 18 protected), some 2023 second rounders.
Knicks Receive: Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield

Detroit Trades: Jerami Grant
Detroit Receives: Obi Toppin, Kevin Knox, Ray Arcidiacono, Nerlins Noel, Mavs 2023 pick (top 10 protected)

Sacramento Trades: Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield
Sacramento Recieves: Jerami Grant, Alec Burks, Hornets 2022 pick (top 18 protected), multiple 2023 second rounders.

Why this works:

Knicks

Knicks get their long term PG in Haliburton, and clear up their glut of draft capital and roster spots. They remove the distraction of Obi (Because Thibs won’t play him :banghead: ). Also Hield while not ideal for this team because he doesn’t play defense, expires in 2024 just like the majority of Vet contracts on the roster. This trade opens up the ability of the Knicks to sign Mitch to an extension, gets IQ more time as the off ball facilitator role off the bench with Burks gone, and forces the fan base to stop calling for Randle’s head, because we are stuck with him.

Team
Haliburton
Fournier
RJ
Randle
Mitch

Pistons

Detroit get to go young at the PF position with Obi whose shown promise when given minutes, most likely get the Mavs draft pick in 2023, and in theory their starting Center this year in Noel. This trade also saves them about 8 Mil in cap space. For a young team in the middle of rebuilding it’s about as good as it can get.

Team
Hayes
Cade
Siddiq
Obi
Noel

Kings

Sacramento gets two players in Grant and Burks that should lead to them winning more games this season (if not next). Both guys can play off of Fox, are decent outside shooters, and can defend well for their positions. They also get the Hornets 2022 pick (50/50 if it transfers), and a few second rounders in a deep 2023 draft. Sacramento is getting the best win now guys in this trade. Also they don’t have to worry about Bagley leaving because Jerami is their new starting PF

Fox
Burks
Barnes
Grant
Holmes

Everybody in theory is a better team off this trade.

They get Jerami Grant and Alec Burks. Basically two guys who can help them win now.

I didn’t start the rumor that Tyrese and Fox were on the trading block. :dontknow:

Tyrese is nice, but he isn’t what they need to win games. He’s actually too ball dominant next to Fox. Fox played best next to Bagdonovic who played off ball but could pass to the open man and played defense. Burks while not as good as Bagdonovic has a similar play style. Also Jerami Grant is a really good player. Better than Haliburton, right now. Those two actually would give them a chance to sneak into the playoffs.

If they want to get into the playoffs this year as reported. Fox and Jerami Grant is a better duo than Haliburton and Grant. Same for the next few seasons too. Haliburton is a very good roleplayer, Fox is potentially an Multiple year all star.

Also Grant and Burks have performed well in the playoffs.

Not sure if this was posted earlier but basically says we need to trade Mitch and Knox before they hit free agency. Mitch can sign for 4/54. If we're not going to offer that, it's probably time to move him.

That’s not crazy in a vacuum, Noel’s contract combined makes it a bit problematic because that is pushing about 20 Mil a year in centers. The only caveat is Noel’s contract is short. Both of those contracts could be movable too if they are healthy. I don’t think they are going to trade Mitch unless something legit good is coming back.

Randle + Fournier + Burks + Rose + IQ for Simmons + Tobias + fillers

who says no? Simmons, RJ, Tobia, Obi, Mitch (obv. Obi's gotta get his 3pt % up)

I think both teams say no but I REALLY think NYK says no. That starting 5 will get zoned to death and our bench drastically weakens.

I think it has to be a multi-team deal with about 3 teams involved because Philly is not going to be able to easily move $69MM+ with a decent return. I don’t expect teams to help Morey. NYK can still wind up with Simmons but without us giving up THAT much. We will have to part with multiple 1st AND 2nd round picks though in a 3-way deal.

But he has NO leverage right now. His PO doesn't come for another 3 seasons --> the '25-'26 season.

The Sixers hang up the phone and block the Knicks number after.

There are several desperate teams that are going to offer the Sixers a much better package for Simmons than that.

If they want to trade Harris they will attach picks, Morey has always been the type to trade picks, and they already have several young rotational players (Maxey, Thybulle, Korkmaz, Milton). I think people underestimate that the Sixers are going to get for Simmons and think they just need to give him away. They could end up With Collins and Reddish for him and still move Harris.

That's 68 Million in salaries. It is doable with Collins, Gallo, Cam, and Deion Wright. Atlanta also has picks they can send over. Those aren't expiring though so I don't see how they then flip that to cap space for Harden. I guess they would have to flip collins and Gallo for an expirings. Maybe attach picks from a Collins trade to Gallo.... Its doable but it wouldn't be easy and they would want as much time as possible to have to make the secondary and third moves to get cap space.

Atlanta does get a new look

Trae
Bogdan
Harris
Simmons
Capella

Simmons can "run" the offense and Trae could focus on shooting. Its actually a interesting team. I think they would need to move Capella though because he would clog the paint for SImmons.

How about Mitch, Kemba, and a FRP for Christian Wood?

Some of you think it's too much. But people have traded a lot less for that FRP.

If Kings wants to balance that lineup. It's really Sabonis, Randle, Simmons and Collins that I see are available. I don't see any other All-Star level big man available.

I think it's too much but for some reason I just dont care anymore. I've made my arguments before. Randle is a failure of a primary option on a team expected to make the playoffs, Fox is a failure of a star on a rebuilding team.

I expect to make a trade for Fox with that notion in mind. Or at least I did but ya know I'm so fricken angry that I might just bail on my ideals. Just remember though, if you went on a Kings board they feel the same way about Fox. He's only a 5 assist PG, ranks in the bottom 5percentile in defense and can't shoot. So.....just know what you're getting yourself into.

This isn't a holy crap this guy is obviously a way better player trade. It's more like a let's gamble that new scenery may benefit both crappy players trade.

I totally get it and I also feel the temperature of an active teams message board on how they feel about certain players as well. Fck ESPN and their ilk that makes it sound like Fox is this all worldly player.

My reasoning on why I would trade Fox for Randle is because I am okay with Obi as a starter now. We need a ball-handler and Fox seems to be the more gettable player on the market. Comparing Fox and Randle, I think Fox has a higher ceiling or hope that he can be a no.1 option. We at least know that Randle is not that.

Yeah, Morey is still angling for a high return. If he doesn't get it by next season, that'll be the time for the vultures to swoop in.
